I don't disagree with you at all. My point was solely from a business standpoint.
Marketing matters.

Is McDonald's any good? No, it's crap that calls itself food. But when you have Michael and Larry playing Horse for MJ's bag of McD's, all of a sudden millions of people crave their stuff.

I get the economics for sure. I have little problem with the contract really, simply due to that fact.

I have more of a problem with the media exposure they get. Similar to to Cowboys. What should a second tier team that hasn't made the playoffs get so much coverage and take prime time game slots? Now I get the economics and the metrics of that too. Because people are watching and they are getting ratings.

Just like the Cowboys.

Though unlike the Cowboys, CU doesn't have a huge established fanbase around the country. I do think the intrigue will eventually start to drop, at least nationally. If they continue to miss the playoffs and not get over the hump at least.

Another thing. With a big name and now a big contract, expectations elevate. That’s just what happens when you excite to fanbase, when you get attention. What happens if the expectations become make the cfp or its failure? Maybe unrealistic expectations, but fans hold onto it. If he goes 9-5, 9-5, 9-5, not winning league … well that’s pretty good considering the league… but I have a feeling fans will tire of that. They’re paying huge bucks, he has the electricity.

One other thing he has going for him, he won’t shy from expectations. He’s played at the highest levels, has been one of the very best, I’m certain expectations don’t worry him. But that doesn’t mean you hit them.
