Contract?

Just curious if anyone knows.

Was the increase in NIL efforts in all a response to Odom leaving or was this going to be the plan whether he stayed or not? I would imagine it takes time to secure these funds so I would guess that a good percentage was the plan all along, but I wonder if the fundraising efforts for Mullen was able to bump the NIL pool at all.

The increase in NIL was going to increase regardless. The NIL increased even more than previously planned pursuant to negotiations with Mullen. #alliteration

Nothing in the contract about UNLV and Revenue Sharing or NIL. Was this false news reported by the media or is there some other written/unwritten commitment's documentation/pinky swear.

Ugh, we haven't learned anything about buyouts.

Deboer at Washington made 4.2 per year and had a 12 mil buyout after year 2. He signed an extension after year 1.

There are some higher paid coahes with relatively small buyouts But the market for them to be poached is quite smaller compared to a place like UNLV

that was part of what got him here. Its not a contract term. If you thought TKM was bad, going back on that kind of commitment after hiring a coach like Dan Mullen would send UNLV back to the stone age of college coaches.
That said, this is a steal of a hire for that price. Really good job. The buyout is pretty nice as well. should keep the P4s from sniffing around to hard but also gives us a nice payday if he does leave.

3.5 mill. per plus his incentives. $5 for 5. $5 mill per year for 5 years roughly. Could be more if revenue sharing is published or agree upon.

It would also be nice to extend the buyout until AFTER bowl season.

Not sure how that works but I assume Mullen wouldn't take this job without NIL assurances
Thing I am ignorant to is if NIL agreements would be included in an employment contract. Just a glorified offer letter. Pretty sure its just do's, don'ts and proposed personal compensation and that's it. The PDF is public for review.

Based on the language in the contract:

"Beginning in the first year of the employment contract, for each year that the Program’s single year APR is at
the level required by Paragraph 4.2.c.8, the University shall pay the Employee, as additional compensation, per fiscal

It appears to me this is just employment agreements/offer.

I will say, however, they better get this shit in writing, or it's a Sluka debacle x10000 all over again. I want some damn info.

That's a legit salary, double the next highest paid coach in the conference. Plus a decent buyout. Better than I would have hoped for a year ago.
