Curious to see what "tweaks" to the CFP come down the pike. Whatever they may be, they'll benefit the SEC and make it tougher on the G6.
I think the only tweak we see next year is to revamp the seeding process, which I think is completely warranted.
I believe I read that any changes have to be agreed on by 100% of the committee members. Do you think the ACC/Big 12/MW representatives will agree to that? Or want to keep it how it is?
I agree. They might change seeding process but also after this years CFP, do you really want a bye week? Id argue Id rather have a full Allegiant stadium as the G5 champion reward and then play the next games in whatever Bowls are there...
We aren't even in consideration for ESPN's way too early to 25, they have Boise in theirs though.
Call me a hater, but I see a drop off in Boise coming due to the loss of their OC more than just losing Jeanty... losing that amount of experience and game planning isnt easily replaced and you cant just plug and play RBs thinking that they'll turn into Ashton.
They got the Fresno RB, right? I'm not sure if he's expected to be their #1, but I'd think so.

I know they’re considered good … but even when they beat us two years ago. I didn’t like Keane nor Sherrod. They didn’t suck, they were fine … but I wouldn’t want either to be the #1. But a big part of a runner is the O line, maybe he will thrive there.
Utah should have a home and home vs UNLV. Yeah, we're down in playing the Utes in the CFP. It's easy to say 'It was all Jeanty', but you bring up a bigger point. Dirk K. is a very very good OC.
Some guys are good play designers but don't have great feel for when to call stuff. Dirk was good at both. I think Boise falls off a bit this year with the loss of both Dirk and Jeanty. But Madsen is a very good QB..Boise should be favorite to win MWC again.
Interesting to see that UNLV seems to be getting all of the G5 love. Its cool, but we are going to have a brand new team practically with a brand new coach. Boise is losing some key pieces, but you would still think that they would be the favorite.
UNLV has done well with the portal, but the majority of the players we have landed are a bit unproven.
I know the fact that we have CDM is driving this heavily, which makes some sense. But it is still interesting to me with so many questions on what our team will be next year.
Picking Boise seems to be the safer pick.

Something tells me we'll only recognize a couple of names on this roster after spring practice. Hoping it works out. I wish there was a little bit more continuity with this roster, but that's wishful thinking. Overhauls are the new normal now for every program.
This is true. But we were pretty busy in the portal last year. With Odom leaving and taking guys and other guys opting out it created a situation where we had to be even busier this year with a lot more spots to fill.
True, but we are running with mostly guys with potential, without a lot of playing time.
There are lots of reasons to be hopeful, but at the same time, it is a little crazy that we are getting so much preseason love.
Sure Boise lost 2 very important pieces, but they didn't lose their entire team. They have a good culture and a coach that has done well.
It is easier now than ever, but it is still tough to rebuild a football team from scratch in one year. I mean Deion crushed it in the portal that first year, and did improve drastically over the previous season, but they were just mediocre.
Mullen is a better coach, but still.

Agreed. Lots of potential, not much proof. However, a lot of our previous transfers here were similar. Overall, the 2 best resume transfers were probably Catalon and Grimes, and they were definitely big impact guys for UNLV last season.
Ricky White had a small amount of success, but also not a ton of stats. His freshman year at Michigan State, he had 10 receptions for 223 yards and 1 TD. Those came in only 3 games though, with most of that occurring in 1 game vs Michigan.
Jackson Woodard had a total of 16 tackles in his 3 seasons at Arkansas. No sacks, FF, Int, etc. He was considered a 0 star transfer.
Jalon Catalon was a proven commodity, but injuries really slowed him down, to where he only played in 9 games his previous 2 seasons with a combined 25 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 INT's, in those 2 years at TX and Arkansas.
Tony Grimes was a solid player at UNC, but didn't play in 2023 due to injury.
Most of the other transfers were either smaller school guys or players that didn't get a lot of PT at their schools.
I get it and agree. These are all the reasons to be hopeful. And I 100% am.
I just think crowning us the king of G5's with so many questions marks is a bit odd. Now there is so much turnover these days that everyone has a ton of question marks so why not.
Same players but a different coach? I don't think we would be getting as much love. Which is valid, because Mullen has been really good and usually very good his first year
Agreed. I wouldn't put us above Boise State until we prove we can beat them. They lost Jeanty, but retain a lot of other talented players. UNLV is replacing way more of it's roster, so it's a mystery how it will all come together at this point. Could be a 6 win team (Please don't be), or a 12 win team. Most likely somewhere in between.
I will settle for an 11-win regular season (UCLA) with a loss in the semi-finals of the CFP.
I also am willing to settle for that.

Not sure what to expect from former Bronco AA OL Nate Potter as BSU's new OC. Did a great job with their TE's last year, and I think he has some run game coordinator in his background, but I'm really in wait and see mode with him. They promoted him pretty fast after the season, and he did get to learn from Dirk, so they must see something.
All the RB1 talk out of Boise has centered around Sire Gaines. He was lost for the season in game 3 last year with an ankle, so I guess it all depends on how he's healed. Sherrod and Dubar will duke it out for RB2, with Dylan Riley as a change of pace speed back.
BSU is scouring the portal and jucos for a quality QB2, but nobody any good wants to go where they know they'll carry a clipboard. Let's just say their QB room is less than impressive right now, and that seems to be their priority at this time.
