I think we lose 75% of anyone significance . Odom will do some poaching. i think. We wait 10 days to get a coach and we are in trouble. Reno might be painting the cannon blue next year.

You hope that Harper has spoken to the team. Asked them to hold off on entering portal, that the coaching hire will be done quickly (Please God) To make that decision after meeting the new head coach. Really all you can do.
Odom will obviously poach some guys. Some might wait to see where Marion goes.

Going into the portal is OK, it is more of a matter of who they can hire to get these players to end up removing themselves from the portal, but I will agree that we are going to see a lot of names go quickly, so I hope to see a new coach by next Friday if possible. Would love to see a coach who could get involved before the team even goes to the bowl game.
The NCAA needs to move the opening of the portal until after the bowl games + a couple of weeks, maybe late January. Allows coaches, players AND schools to actually complete the season intact.

Burrell hurts because he's local kid. I expect him to follow Marion or Odom.

Because portal opens today and his new team is expecting him to build a roster. This is all on the NCAA and their total incompetence. The schedule is a joke.
So if we had won he would be leaving the team in the middle of the playoffs. The way we played Friday maybe he made sure that wasn't a problem.
I think you are right. Short week to play BSU and out partying after the Reno game. Maybe the deal was done last week.
Extension was definitely offered after the UNR game. The fact he didn’t sign it tells me he already knew he was out the door.
I have to assume he was offered multiple times.
We probably won’t get the full story until the new staff is in place. It doesn’t look good to throw a former coach under the bus or air out dirty laundry at this time but I think it’s clear now that this wasn’t an amicable situation.

Any current UNLV coaches are. Most are trying to get a player under his wing in case he needs to go somewhere else. He can say, "I'm bringing player X with me."
Maybe Del A and Hunkie are actually recruiting FOR UNLV??
Coach O was recruiting for USC years ago when they had no HC and everyone thought he was a crazy guy.
Coach O ran into Pete Carroll at a state championship game in Southern California. Pete said what are you doing? O says he is here for SC and Pete gave him VIP passes to the game to be on the field and mingle. Unbeknownst to Coach O, Pete was the next HC of SC and it wasn’t announced yet. O remained on staff from then on.
Point is, some guys just love ball and will keep working no matter what the situation is. You want to keep those guys around. Hopefully Del and Hunky stick around.

The Oregon State kid is a DE so I have to think it is Scherer doing the recruiting. Like someone said he is either recruiting for us or for his next job.
The Purdue fan came on here saying that if we won, Odom would have stayed on through the playoffs. Not saying that is true or not, but I believe it. Probably could have landed a better job if that were the case.
He would have stayed through that. Skipping a bowl game sure.
You aren't skipping out on a potential playoff run regardless of how short it probably would have been.
Only Bill Frieder was dumb enough to accept or at least announce he accepted a job prior to the playoff (tourney).
