Thanks for posting. The out of conference is easier but playing at Central Michigan will be no walk in the park.
That would be fantastic since it would get us to a bowl game that includes the very valuable bowl practices and game experience. Hope you're right. Would love to see it.My early predictions... which will certainly change between now and September:
Jackson State: WIN
@ UCLA: LOSS
@ Cent Mich: LOSS
Idaho: WIN
Fresno State: WIN
@ SDSU: LOSS
@ Hawaii: WIN
CSU: LOSS
@ SJSU: WIN
Wyoming: WIN
@Boise State: LOSS
UNR: WIN
7-5 total
5-1 at home
2-4 on the road
The games that have me going back-and-forth are @CMU, @SDSU, CSU, @SJSU.
For me, anything less than 5-7 would be a disappointment. Not that I'd jump off the Sanchez train if we went 4-8, but I think 5 wins should be the floor. That would be fantastic since it would get us to a bowl game that includes the very valuable bowl practices and game experience. @Bullmastiff 1 4-8 would be rough for me. We can't afford to lose against Jackson or Idaho. That is an FCS team and a perennial bottom-feeder FBS school. So there you have 2 wins. If we only go 4-8, that means that we only win 2 games against the other 10 teams on our schedule.
While 4-8 is better than 3-9, that doesn't show me much real improvement from CTS' first year. The extra win would really be based on the strength of our non-conference schedule.
2015 -- 2016
N. Illinois -- CMU (fairly similar)
UCLA -- UCLA (same)
Idaho State -- Jackson State (fairly similar)
Michigan -- Idaho (much easier)
Swapping a game at the Big House for a home game against Idaho gives you the extra win. Again, doesn't show me a lot.
I think they'll break even 6-6
Jackson State: WIN
@ UCLA: LOSS
@ Cent Mich: LOSS
Idaho: WIN
Fresno State: WIN
@ SDSU: LOSS
@ Hawaii: WIN
CSU: LOSS
@ SJSU: LOSS
Wyoming: WIN
@Boise State: LOSS
FUNR: BIG WIN
I'll be speculative and say we lose SJSU, but it'll be close. Fresno might be a toss up, but I think we have the edge since they're rebuilding as well. I don't think they'll have quite enough in the tank to beat us.
