Houston just UNLV’ed it

Those teams cost $ Millions. We know Houston has an annual $ 2 MIL NIL and Miami acknowledged $ 400,000 a year for just one player. ( $ 800,000 for a two year contract)

All it takes is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

There's no CAP like pro teams. This will be the future of Basketball and it will devolve to multi-million dollar teams. There is way more $$ than there are superstar players and someone willing to put up the cash will get most of them.

I hate this era of college basketball : soft players, pay to win, nonsensical super conferences, garbage style, no style, constant mass turnover, no player development, no rivalries that mean a damn.

There are over 700 Billionaires in the U.S. and thousand more with over $750 million. These people make at least 10% on their money annually - some much more than that. 10% of a billion is $100 million a year. I guarantee there are several - right now- that are pissed that THEIR team isn't winning and will spend whatever they think it takes to get a winning team. $5 mil- $10 mil is NOTHING compared to what they bring in every year, much less their total estate. They already own their multiple estates, planes, pro teams, politicians etc. Why not own a college program? If something isn't done, it will come down to eight or ten teams competing every year. It won't be a lack of money, but a lack of enough all star players that will be the limit. The winning strategy will be to wait till a player completes his first year anywhere, and then if he puts up the numbers you want, offer him enough to go to YOUR school. Luring nice players will become an industry all by itself.

Wrong - there is a lot more to it than just money -

If you want the very best, money is the key … but if you get the very best, their time is short at your school.

As the game changes (I won’t say progresses, it’s a huge regression to be), it’s pretty apparent that the most stable teams have the best chance at winning and it’s heavy turnover that is like buying a lottery ticket.

Takes a lot of luck and chemistry - even the best of them with all the resources in the world have difficulty throwing back to back years like UNLV had 90-91 or stretches like Florida even had ... Its rare - takes a top to bottom cohesiveness throughout a program from TRAINERS- coaches who work TOGETHER - equipment people to tutors to academic advisors - A lot of working parts - lots of logistics and lots of personalities - that is all volatile - lots can go wrong and usually does - Throwing $$$$ works better than NIOT having money that is for sure , but its not the answer.

Very humbly disagree.
K State had 2 guys on the team when the new coach was hired. I do not think K State bought a team. Fau did not buy a team either. And 1 of them is going to the final 4.

Spend the money on a top coach and the rest will take care of itself. Yes. You have to spend some on good players but the difference between the 50th best player and the 150th is not that great.

So FAU spent money on a top coach?
