As football continues to improve, I think you will see a lot more companies jump on board.Boyd family stepping up - AGAIN - for UNLV. Now if only the other big companies in LV would walk the walk. The greatest irony of Boyd’s philanthropy to UNLV is that Bill Boyd went to UNR! 😂 Yet he and his father, Sam Boyd, adopted UNLV as their own and supported the development of a hometown university, much like most of the old Vegas folks did back in the day.
This is where better fan support can create a snowball effect. As football continues to improve, I think you will see a lot more companies jump on board.
5 years for PERS eligibility. If "the community" is showing support to Odom, why would he leave? He's seen that the grass isn't always greener in a P5 (short-term money, yes, but not long-term stability). He likely earns enough money to sustain him and should have saved enough from his previous gigs to sustain him in retirement, not to mention drawing a PERS pension if he remains here for a certain amount of time (I don't know the requirements of this).
I know that what the Alabama, Ohio State, USC, etc's of the world want, they get. But why not be the king in a city such as Las Vegas? I know that these are my Rebel Red glasses showing me these things, and that I don't know his intentions and what drives him, just thinking this out loud, so to speak.
Odom and the rest of the coaches wouldn't be in PERS. They would be in the 403(b) plan.5 years for PERS eligibility.

Yeah I don't see him taking the Indiana job or Vandy because it is a power conference it will be a major one I think.I don't think you're far off.
If he gets poached it will be by a school where we all think, Yeah I get it or Can't blame him.
It will either be a dream job scenario or one where he thinks he can win at a high level and win conference titles.
I don't think he takes just any P4 job even if money I'd better.

A team like UNLV now has a bit of an advantage over the field of G5. Not many G5 schools with comparable facilities, and it seems like UNLV is really trying to support football (finally).Yeah I don't see it. New playoff format gives G5s a seat at the table.
I think it's an 'easier' path to get into playoffs with a good G5 school than a middling P4 school like an Indiana, Mississippi State, Vandy, Cal, Wake Forrest etc.
Not a knock on those schools but none are catching the tops in their conference anytime soon.
A jump to any of them or school like that would be purely money driven. (Maybe a dream or alumni thing. Not for Odom, just in general terms).
I also wouldn't blame anybody taking a job where you're doubling a 7 figure salary. I don't think that's the case with Odom.
Yeah his MO experience probably taught him those jobs are fleeting. Unless he lands one where he feels strongly he can recruit to whether it be geography or relationships. Though I don't see him recruiting any geography especially heavy now and the portal kind of eliminates that.Yeah I don't see it. New playoff format gives G5s a seat at the table.

Not sure how PERS does or doesn't work for coaches, but I find it unlikely that it allows for up to 17.5% of the coaches pay. No doubt that IRS has limits on retirement funding.Odom and the rest of the coaches wouldn't be in PERS. They would be in the 403(b) plan.

Official Watch party locations, Fan experiences, preferred hotel for away fans, game day shuttle service, etc.. Lots of opportunities if fan support increases. This is where better fan support can create a snowball effect.
Local businesses, especially hotels/casinos, need eyeballs on the product and fans in the seats for the investment to be worth their while.
Hopefully we get better turnouts next season. An opening season win against a Big 12 opponent will help that cause.
