4-Star Visit

I have no problem with preference or opinion. But Tony Lane at 6’6” was an undersized 5. But if Kalib Boone at 6’9” and with a 7’3” wingspan is too undersized to play the 5, then almost every UNLV NCAA tournament team, when you look at the height of the starting centers beginning with Moffett, Green, Basnight, Butler, Ackles, Kambala, Anthony, Massamba and Birch featured undersized starting 6’9” centers. In fact, are there any UNLV ncaa tourney teams that started a center who was 6’11” or taller?

I'd take an athletic 6'9", 6'10" center over a 7'2" slow moving post player any day.

Colorado State had 3 7'+ guys years ago and our "bigs" ate them for lunch.

Your opinion, give up dude!
It may be. But we are coming back at you with FACTS. You know, statistics and the like.
You have "just look at him" as your evidence.

I get it, I was skeptical of Boone as a 5 at first too. Then I looked into a little bit...

I'd love to but this is getting too crazy. I like providing news but its gotten to a point where I can't give too much because even when I give a little, people run with it.

Some people are twisting my words and saying that I said this or that and then it spreads. Some people do their own sleuthing and then assume they're right and then tell other people that I told them x, y, and z when I didn't. For example, a few people claimed that I said Jazz Gardner committed to us and spread that. Someone from Gardner's camp even reached out to me about the "rumor."

People are constantly badgering me on Twitter too. There are about 7-8 people that message me every day, multiple times a day begging for information. Then when I dont reply, they go on and tell people that I hate them and that I'm not actually a Rebel fan. I've gotten screenshots of these messages.

I know this isnt every fan, but there are a lot of strange people that are making this not fun anymore.
You just do you. I know a few of the people that you have had to deal with and they will never make anything easy. So many people have their only identity tied into social media acceptance. That is their problem. We appreciate your sharing what and when the time is right. Others will just need to learn to be patient and respectful or learn to live with disappointment. Thanks for your contributions.

Apparently, Tark felt the same way.
Speed is way better than height. Depends what you want to do with it and who’s the coach.

It’s 2023, I think coach Kev is doomed to fail no matter who he recruits at this point.

Spencer would have been if not for probation. Keon Clark was on the 98 team too right?

Spencer and Keon is almost 10 years apart. Keon is a Bayno's player. Elmore Spencer was a Tark's player if I am not mistaken with Love, Evric Gray, JR Rider, DT Sr...etc. Hard to imagine this but during Tark's last year and after LJ, Stacey, Greg and Hunt left...we were looking at our team and said "Our team look smallish". Spencer, Love, Evric Gray looks smallish...

This f*cking team had Ed O'Bannon (and God know who else) joining them if Maxson would just leave Tark be.
I am as ignorant about football recruit as any diehard UNLV fan maybe even worst, I hope you new fan to UNLV basketball know who Ed O'bannon was out off high school. He was the #1 ranked of the world out of high school. He was committed and on campus at UNLV before Tark tell him to go somewhere else for his own good.

Forget all of that. After Tark left UNLV he was hired as the Coach for the San Antonio Spurs. It did not workout so he went to Fresno State. Melvin Ely, Chris Herren...et al later..Tark was the master at attracting talents and put them to compete on the national stage. To say that he was a genius is an understatement.

Started watching the HBO Max series on the Lakers & Magic Johnson. Loved the two episodes when Dr. Buss was recruiting Tark to coach the Lakers. The guy who played Tark didn’t really capture him, but the Lois character was spot-on!!

Yeah Tark never really had many 6'11" type guys, in some instances he tried and failed but I think mostly he was more than happy to take shorter guys who were athletic and could produce like a taller center. He had a few back ups who were taller like a David Willard but not many starters.

So wish we could have seen Tark with that team in 92-93. Even without the huge recruits he had lined up I think he would have made another deep run.
That team was very solid. Not great (comparatively) but they were an easy S16 team. What’s amazing is it was a completely different style from the previous couple of seasons.

Hell, think about it. Two guys went on to the MBA from that team. That team alone had more draft picks than we’ve had combined over the past 7 or 8 seasons.

Kerr Kriisa back in the portal after Huggy quitting recently. I doubt there's any chance he comes here, but curious where he ends up. SI saying Memphis, Cinci and Nebraska targeting him.

Same with Ricky Robinson... should have- could have- never did develop- no heart

Y’all know Memphis is my 2nd favorite college team of all time.

Who is your 1st?
The one that I graduated with a degree from in 2008! It’s a liberal arts degree but with that, you get to see a LOT of things with it. What’s the saying, “Jack of all trades, master of none.”

I live and breathe UNLV. Now that I live close to the university, I get to see the changes to this great school since when I first started school in the Spring of 1995. I’m 46 years old and I interact with kids when I eat at the Hazel Wilson House of Commons. From the staff all the way to freshman and kids who eat at the mess hall because the university makes a concerted effort to make kids happy. There’s a lot of underage kids that are in school programs here at UNLV.

We just have to get our act together in athletics. The university has to do a better job in reaching out to locals IMO. Not everyone can watch the Aces, VGK and the Raiders. But also, you don’t want to put out a crappy product because having a big crowd is super important and part of the vibe.

Very Funny..look as much as I rag on Mormons, I am super impressed with their ideology, their hierarchy. I still have NOT read the Book of Mormon. They really are nice people in the grand scheme of things. The mormon church has a grip of money. They were recently hit by the SEC and fined 20 million dollars because they collected their tithes and “invested” the money by putting it in shell corporations. It’s actually pretty genius if you ask me. Plus, they own a ton of land. Heck, they are building a second temple on the northwest side of town.

So the yoga chick in my videos..she invited me over to her house for dinner and I met her mother for the first time. I still haven’t met her father, he was out of town. She’s hardcore LDS. Her mother graduated with an English degree from BYU. She was just like me, she dropped out of Ballet from UtAh Utes her senior year before giving birth to her son. After I smoked weed with her and her son, I went upstairs to her room..she put Netflix on her flatscreen and closed the door. Dude, I did NOT seal the deal!!!I would have loved to have sex on her white linen bedsheets

She dropped me off at the CX bus stop and I went on my way..

Whether you /agree disagree with their doctrine..they really do make an effort to help people..

Dude, If someone ever sent her and her family, a photo of the “provo pic”..I’d feel like dog crap.

Whether you are Catholic Mormon or whatever..if you try your best to do good things in life and be good to your neighbors and to people in general, you’ll live a long time.

I’ve travelled around most of the world except for Africa/China/Australia..I’ve learned that people want to be left alone and people are mostly good but then again, I’ve travelled to mostly touristy areas.

But also riding the bus, there’s tons of homeless. People need help. If you are in a better position, do what you can.

"People need help. If you are in a better position, do what you can."

I've thought about this a lot. I'm pretty sure just giving money to the homeless doesn't help them for more than a couple of hours. So the question is - How to help?

I walk a huge area with my dog during the months I'm in town. ( @ 8 miles a day on streets between Eastern/Sandhill and DI/Sunset.) I bet I've talked at length to over 200 homeless. It's surprising how people will talk at least a little about themselves if you spend the time.

IMO, almost nobody is on the street due to circumstances that they didn't bring on themselves (other than the severely mentally ill) I believe a very high percentage of the non-mentally ill young homeless ( 35 and under ) are addicted to drugs and they will take whatever substance they can get. The older ones seem to be more alcoholics. A few are just disturbed enough that they are perceived as "weird" and can't hold a job. Almost none make it past 60.

So what do I do? Everyone I talk to I offer the number and address of Catholic Charities. I offer to call for them right there and offer a ride if they want to go. ( I almost never get a taker in the past 4 years I've done this) As far as direct payments, the younger ones want $$ but I don't give because I don't want to be the one who financed the drug that killed them. Anyone with a dog - young or old - I buy dog food and bring it to them. I will bring older ones food and water/coffee/hot chocolate. These people are always very thankful.

This is a huge problem. But it's hard to help people who need professional care and are suspicious of caregivers.

Even though this post is not about a great pick up (recruit) it is a great post! I like the way u offer to help people who need it and specially the ones who have a dog.

I don’t know everyone’s situation but 99.999 percent it’s drugs.

I have a cousin who continues to battle meth addiction. My middle sister Tina is battling crack/fentanyl.

I myself want to stop marijuana. It’s gotten me nowhere. Last night, a friend of mine busted out a preroll at Ellis Island Casino. I was supposed to go to the CCSD busyard from 9-1 pm today but f’d it off.absolutely understand the stakes of driving with people’s children on a bus and I take that seriously as if I had kids. Marijuana’s super easy to kick as it is more habit forming and is non addicting compared to cocaine/fentanyl/heroin and other hardcore drugs. They need to remove marijuana from the class 1 schedule classification.

On the rough streets of Vegas, you are sucker if you give someone money. Instead of lying I usually respond “I am not in a position to give you money”

Some A hole kid was on UNLV campus and he asked me to cashap p him 10 mother f’n dollars. I wanted to beat his ass on the spot but I also didn’t want to get shot at. Some other guy said “hey can you give me 100 dollars” as I walked through University Center.. The funniest one was this lady who said she needed 2 dollars to go to Northtown as I walked between Flamingo and Twain on Cambridge..My response, “you keep walking, you can get there for free..”

I cross the Vegas Wash everyday that starts at the Rio hotel and opens up on Cambridge and splits right through the valley. They are called the Tunnel People and it can be pretty gnarly. They have built an intricate system. Keep your guard up at all times and keep to yourself and people won’t bother you. If you act like a punk, people will get you.

The resources are out there. I used to work in the mental health field from 2000-2007. It’s the same referrals to Salvation Army/Homeless shelters today.

I don’t wish addictions on anyone including my worst enemies. It’s a terrible slow death.

Best help is word of mouth but also just having the time to smile at someone and talk to them but keep your guard up at all times.

Your opinion, give up dude!
Big men are very valuable. Duke, Kansas, MSU, MU, FSU etc, etc have tall bigs who can shoot the three and play well on pick and roll. SDSU and BSU will set tough screens. Ike will be at BSU but Muoka handled him in MWC play. New Mexico has several tall guys and we will battle with them for second place.

We have two freshman guards and Nowell who will change the game for the Rebs as the season progresses. That is my opinion backed up by a season ticket for the umpteenth year in a row. If we qualify for NCAA'
s we will be a tough out. As I said last year, our front court would be a problem if injuries or poor play hit. Both things happened. Ike progressed but not enough, Muoka wouldn't fight for position, and Isaiah was hurt. This year we look more like Xavier and I'm good with that.

Teddy you are a good man and human.
I am grateful for your friendship. Stay weird you’re the best.
Hall thought he was a SG not a PF. Whaley will more than makeup for Hall.
I try to be a good human. The only time I’ll be a crappy person is when I troll and talk smack.

When you walk out in the real world,it wears you down. People are manipulative, mean and just plain scum. @gripple29, I value your friendship too. Will definitely keep the weirdness.

I think Hall p4p was our best player. He was an inside/out guy. Was a matchup problem early on. Kev killed his confidence by yanking him. Well he is now in Division 1 obscurity. Hope he doesn’t come back to bite us in the ass. Don’t know what school he’s at.

I may be the only one and that’s fine but I’d still like a guy taller than 6’9” 210lb in the paint, with that last scholarship!

Welcome to the internet. All you can do, is ignore the trolls. No matter the subject, they will be there, from VLOGGERS, to youtubers, to gaming streams , yes, even sports insiders. Nobody is immune to the internet trolls and Karens of the world.

Leaks are also an inevitability no matter what you report on. Hell, you can be a reporter on underwater basket weaving and people will try to find a way to leak and troll it lol. Feed on those that support and appreciate you and fk the rest. Block lists are a wonderful thing.

I help mod a few large twitch streamers and their Discord, let me tell ya, it's all fun and games until you are trying to moderate socials of streamers with 10-20m followers lol.
Just do your thing man, the haters are 1% and those that love and respect the info are the 99.

If you need any help with the socials, let me know man I am a DM away. I'll also have that Discord link to you within the next few days. Lets take this thing to the next level!
