Both seem to be good coaches. Huss has a short HC resume. McCollum is on the first year of a five year deal so his buyout may be around $ 2 mil.
Isn't McCollum on the radar for Iowa?

On Wade, NC St is not great job, remember Cal had no interest in NC st due 2 little hoop programs in Duke but especially UNC, being so close.

Tony Skinn at Georeg Mason 26-7 this yr, 42 yrs old 2nd yr at GMU, question will he leave his school to come here? Was on GMU final for team, been assistant NBA/College, makes 925k a yr. Odom is from NC, I could see him waiting for ACC job, he can coach we saw what he did at USU. Going to be interesting.

MARVIN WAS HIGHLY RECOMMEND BY LON KRUGER. REMEMBER THAT HE WAS ON LON'S STAFF AT UNLV FOR A YEAR. LON WAS PARTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR LAST FEW COACHING DISASTERS.
Lon will never have another thing to do with UNLV basketball again!

It’s very well known that UNLV can be taken advantage of, it’s no secret among coaches. Cronin, Howland a couple of times, etc, etc, etc.
And yet our fantastic local media are out pushing Hartman, who is a big friend of the Krugers...
Hartman wouldn’t be near the top of my list but there are many more that would be worse
I don’t think he’s bad but I’d like to get out of the Kruger web at this time.
Same here time to start fresh. My guess is we end up with Crean which would be fine. No one mentioning Marshall so that sounds like a pipe dream.

Yep, if Hartman is a legit candidate, I would definitely like him over some of the retreads I've been seeing mentioned. However, I wonder if previous head coaching experience will be as imperative in Harp's basketball search as his football search, especially given the last assistant we hired didn't exactly pan out great.
Hartman is #1 assistant from likely national champs. Also he was behind CKK best year. You could do MUCH worse than him. Only knock against him he is an assistant.
If he even brought in guys that were considered by Florida, but did not take, our team would be WAY better.
He is also connected to current talent whereas that is a huge question of some of these other names that have been out of coaching for awhile.
Would he leave Fla. asap or stick with them to the end? If Fla. went to the end he's miss the first 2.5 weeks of the portal.
Hartman is a family friend of the Krugers. We're trying to escape 1 Kruger mess, we don't need to add another. Also, there are better coaches available and frankly, I'm not losing sleep over any of the "current" talent running off to the portal.
Pass on an Assistant, no matter who it is or what team he is coaching for.
Harper knows the former HC formula works best and that is what I hope he continues to do around here!
HARPER MAY HAVE TO GO WITH WHAT IS LEFT. WE HAVE HAD A HARD TIME FINDING ANYONE CAPABLE TO COME HERE. WE'VE SETTLED FOR MARVIN,OTZ, AND KRUGER. REMEMBER HOW EXCITED WE GET DURING THESE MBB SEARCHES. ALL THE BIG NAME THROWN AROUND AND WE GET Marvin,Otz and KRUGER.

You think we settled for Otz? Take a step back... Otz came in and we finished T2 in his first yr. The only reason we took a step back in yr 2 was he had half a foot out the door. He was a pretty good hire for where we were at.
Menzies was a break glass in case of emergency hire. We actually had 2 slam dunk hires in that cycle- one we inked and one we let get back on a plane with a handshake deal...
Kruger definitely a settle, but that was more for our ADs (DRF) own face save rather than no one wanting the job...

Gregg marshall definately be the one with a chip on his shoulder. Probably unhireable and would want to coach out east if so.
No I was worried it could happen. Early everyone said in Harp we trust. Then later after RJ article they wanted him fired. Now we are back to trusting him to make another big hire. I'm not impressed by most of the candidates . The few I like such as Wade will have p4 opportunities. I don't want another Lon Kruger suggestion like Carlin Hartman . Maybe Harp will surprise us with someone we are not expecting like He did with Mullen.
So McCaffery isn't a terrible choice, he was pretty decent at Iowa, though his career win percentage there was only 0.589 (career 0.588) and he was another guy that was having a real hard time with the modern NIL/Transfer portal. Runs a nice offense and recruits okay, though.
Marshall is so radioactive he hasn't even reached his half life yet.

Traditionally, I’d agree. And no, UNLV doesn’t have a lot of money, but SOMEBODY is actively raising funds to where moves can be made. You know, actually doing their job.
