For the AD job?

UNLV isn’t going to have more cash to pay for the job, so it’s not like it’s going to be some experienced, known entity that comes in here and makes effective decision after effective decision.

Will they stay local?

I’m sure there will be a search committee.

But - from a department standpoint, UNLV isn’t in the worst position in the world. The two major hires are brand new, no need to come in and make heads roll. By the same token, as a coach, your most loyal of support and protector is gone and you are vulnerable ... both coaches are brand spanking new and in no danger, obviously. But in three/four years, if they hit that middle ground with success, without your own AD here...

But financially, UNLV caught a couple of big breaks the past few seasons. Three breaks that I can think of. The Raider money is huge. Recovering T/M money instead of it going to UNLV and being worked back into the athletic department at a small percentage is huge. And there was an external deal struck a couple years back with Learfield/IMG that brought extra cash to UNLV.

With a brand new stadium, with a “blank slate” with coaches, with better financial footing, athletically, UNLV is stronger than they’ve been in awhile. So the job may... emphasis on may .... be more attractive?
