I would be happy with Wade or Drew. This is my wishlist, feel free to roast me
Same, the more research I do however, the more I’m sold on McCollum. 4 nattys in d2 and career 82% winning percentage.I would be happy with Wade or Drew.

Bucky McMillan is pretty far down on my list, and it’s not comprehensive. But we could quadruple his current salary and he’d be making less than Kruger isBorn in Birmingham, Played in Birmingham, H.S. Coach in Birmingham, Samford Coach in Birmingham.
He would dry up and blow away with the wind in Las Vegas.
I don’t think Pasternack would be a terrible option but he doesn’t crack my top 8.Archie Miller (Rhode Island)
Russell Turner (UC Irvine)
Will Wade ( McNeese)
Eric Olen (UC San Diego)
Craig Smith ( Utah)
Josh Pasternack (UC Santa Barbara)
I know you’re joking butI’ll just throw it out there before anyone else does.

I’m legit not worried, Harper’s competence is the reason I have hope actually. I don’t think he has a formula, I do think he will hire a proven winner. Why is everyone worried?
Harper has fixed football with his hires, I believe he will find the right former HC for the job, he knows the right formula!
So you’re saying Gregg Marshall?I think there will be a nice group of coaches at the end of the year who are either out of coaching now or fired. Hiring that type of coach has been a trend for Harper. A good coach who has been on the out's for a while. It's important because you don't lose $$ paying off a buy-out. We'll already be looking to pay off KK to leave. To also pay a buy-out will dilute the amount you can pay a coach. So I think the guessing game should be narrowed to coaches who are out or will be out after the season is over.
But he does.. and the formula is hiring a former HC and not an assistant!I’m legit not worried, Harper’s competence is the reason I have hope actually. I don’t think he has a formula, I do think he will hire a proven winner.
That’s common sense. By formula I mean set on hiring a former p4 coach who flamed out on his last gig. I don’t think he will be that exclusive with the searchBut he does.. and the formula is hiring a former HC and not an assistant!
His buyout would be 600k, and with CKK being fired that’s a 800k firing. So 1.4 million would be on the hook for, even if Harper is able to negotiate those down, you are still looking at a significant amount.Archie Miller is making 2.1 million per year. Not sure we can pay enough to get him here. I think that would be a great hire.
Olen and Turner just win ballgames. There’s zero question they are competent enough to run a program. That should be a baseline for this hire. Pasternack is struggling this season so his buyout could be good for unlv since UCSB may want to move on. Could be a mutually agreed situation.I don’t think Pasternack would be a terrible option but he doesn’t crack my top 8.
Olen would be alright, I’d take Archie but can we afford him? Smith is a ‘no thank you’ in my book.
Or someone like that. Yes.So you’re saying Gregg Marshall?
Perhaps Turner is at a point in his life where he is willing to leave. But I've read several stories that he is so happy in his current place ( and so is his wife) that he won't move.Olen and Turner just win ballgames. I would however make an exception for Carlin Hartman. He’s got the charisma and recruiting ability, as well as the coaching connections to turn this into something, imo he essentially ran the program in CKKs first season. Without him, it would have been a disaster.
That would explain why he’s still therePerhaps Turner is at a point in his life where he is willing to leave. But I've read several stories that he is so happy in his current place ( and so is his wife) that he won't move.
Agree. It's great that our AD isn't firing CKK before the end of the season (or so it appears). I can even handle if he notifies CKK before the MWCT that he won't be back, but you don't do it in late December/early January unless you are a Keystone Cop organization.
If it was common sense why are you saying he doesn’t have the formula then? That’s common sense. By formula I mean set on hiring a former p4 coach who flamed out on his last gig. I don’t think he will be that exclusive with the search
Because it’s not a formula. It’s gonna play out. Speculation is what fans do, Harper is a professional and I believe he will make a good hire. I’m sick of watching the shit show that UNLV basketball has become. So I think it’s a good idea to put names out there. If it was common sense why are you saying he doesn’t have the formula then?
Look the AD knows what he is doing better than anyone, let I play out!
All this is mute until he fires Kevin, so there’s no use fussing about the details until then!
It’s not entirely his fault. The one thing CKK does not seem to realize is a head coach should be something of hype master to enthuse people to donate and to buy tickets. Revenue has to be at all time low during these years. Ckk is likely a good guy, but as a business he is leading unlv down the sewer. What in his history would lead you to believe he will turn the ship around? There are those saying lots of players could come back and to give him another shot is why I wrote this.
Not to mention he leaves a lot to be desired as a recruiter and an overall HC. too!The one thing CKK does not seem to realize is a head coach should be something of hype master to enthuse people to donate and to buy tickets. The program has zero flavor. Recruiting mediocre at very best. Schemes are boring and ineffective. Results, poor. Entertainment value, poor. Attendance poor. Intensity inconsistent. Focus inconsistent. Notoriety/fan interest/attendance/game day experience, poor. Not to mention he leaves a lot to be desired as a recruiter and an overall HC. too!
I’m a huge UNLV basketball fan but I’m also thankful that we do gameday threads since I don’t have days and times circled now. Don’t blame me. I had season tickets for 20 years. I devoted a lot of time to the program. Now I ask to make it fun again. The program has zero flavor. Recruiting mediocre at very best. Schemes are boring and ineffective. Results, poor. Nobody is all that angry, just burnt out, disinterested, apathetic. It’s a really bad place to be.
Maybe DTJ.And exactly how many players do we care come back??
Kevin Kruger is a great dude and I wish him the best in life, I can’t take another year of mediocre for loyalty sake. The one thing CKK does not seem to realize is a head coach should be something of hype master to enthuse people to donate and to buy tickets. The deficit should have 0 influence on the hiring of a coach. 20 million dollar deficit is almost 0 in the realm of college of college athletics. From a purely budget perspective it is really unclear how much room UNLV has to maneuver with a new MBB hire. Unclear where they’re at in cutting into the $20M+ deficit. A significant investment was made into Mullen (rightly so). An extension and/or raise should be considered for Lindy. I’d image there isn’t a lot of room to buyout CKK and bring on a significantly higher paid coach, at least not without donor involvement. These factors may weigh heavily on the scope of the next hire.
Dj, Brooklyn and pape. And exactly how many players do we care come back??
