Not until LA bowl is over. Let the current staff (whoever is left) finish it out. Mullen has already reached out to players and coaches, he is working fast and furious to get the right people.
I don't think he has enough time to wait with as short a period with the portal open. I expect he will get some coaches hired prior to the bowl game so that they can help with recruiting over the next 2 weeks before the portal closes.
I’m sure there are a handful, connected with players … that he has in principle already.
I think we will get a couple that stay on staff.
Is it still the case that there is a maximum number of staff/recruiters? We haven’t lost any officially except Odom right? I think it would be hard to let someone go to replace with the bowl game on Wednesday I think he focuses on recruiting let’s the coordinators handle the prep for the bowl game and then starts staff building after.
Scherer was at Arkansas as interim DC and it was known for awhile he was going to UNLV. So fortunately UNLV has an early bowl and will get the ball moving after it’s over.

Some of my classmates in Boston were from the royal family in Saudi Arabia. The dudes tough it out with us and earn their degrees. They really deserve it from the hard works. I know, we are all woking in the same classs and labs. These fellas are so rich they did not have to go to school at this level but they did and earn their doctorates.

Same thing with AF pilot training. I had two Saudi Princes in my class and they were really hard workers and easy to get along with.
One more year but he needs a pretty significant bounce back.
He's had a really solid run there but he's been there a long time and seems like he's wearing out his welcome.

This hire with THAT contract was an absolute nuclear bomb to put everyone on notice that UNLV isn’t f***ing around.
I love it. I just get concerned with how it all fits with the new conference. All the other teams need to step up huge and I don't see how they can do it.
The other teams cant. We should have expectations of winning regularly conference championships and really running through the conference without hesitation.
A no lose situation. We play 4 top programs and win plus sweep the conference we have a shot at a CFP. If we blow a few of those top program games we then sweep the conference and get a good bowl game.
Doesn’t matter, we’re trying to fit in with the Big12.
It is so obvious to me what we’re doing and what the plan is. The way this hire and the people connected to the hire to help UNLV is only happening for one reason. Multi million dollar deals rarely, especially at the collegiate level, happen in 48-72 hours. Timothy posted a story about how Mullen came into focus for unlv.
It was a deal that was cultivated over a year and while I do think Harper was trying very hard to extend Barry to a real extension that locks him in long term, it was probably evident to Harper early that Barry wasn’t likely to stick around because Barry (as he’s said in his Purdue intro) is a Midwest guy with Midwest values.
What makes a great AD is planning for scenarios and cultivating relationships, the fact that Harper has maintained relationships with LV Bowl officials and others around the CFB scene that are NOT affiliated or involved with unlv says a lot and is why Unlvfb is where it is.
Hard to believe but UNLV got an upgrade in the coaching dept, imo. Mullen would have used those three timeouts to score against Syracuse to end the game and not knee the ball and have your gassed D try to make a stop.
