I am not sure what it means by UNLV baseball has never been there?

It may have been a long time, but coach Dallimore won 793 games in 23 season at UNLV with a best of 53 wins in 1980, he also took UNLV to the NCAA playoffs 7 times. He had the program on the verge of being a major player in college baseball until the years caught up with him and he retired.

What killed the program was that UNLV would not let the baseball coaches do their own fund raising with all of the funds being ear-marked for the general fund. With coach Chambers they agreed to waive that requirement and let him do his own recruiting. Hopefully if coach Chambers can increase the budget from 300,000 a year under the last coach to the $1 million a year range that TCU has we will see the same benifits. It will also help with funds if they can start drawing a 1,000 plus fans a game instead of the 2-400 fans as went in past seasons.
