In your opinions? Mine. The Rebels need pack the line on the defenisive end and dare their QB to beat us with his arm. Then we need to throw some deep balls. Some....runs up their guts ....I mean North and South style of running to test their D line. That is my opinions.

Pumphrey's gonna get his yards so the D needs to focus on not giving up the long passes all night and hopefully limit the Aztecs to 21 or less points. Offense needs to balanced in both the run and passing game and execute. Don't give up on the run game.

We stop Pumphrey and our odds of winning go from 5% to 35%, which is a pretty big gap. Just have to hope our corners play well, and I think our ground game can keep us competitive.

It does not take a miracle. U. South Alabama beat SDSU both last year and this year, and they are not a very good team. What they did to SDSU was to let Pumphrey get his yard and pretty much shut down the rest of the running game and gave up about the same amount of yards through the air. USA picked up most of their yards in the air and were limited on the ground.

This is what South Alabama has done this year:

Won verse Miss. St. (2-2) 21-30 - This was a good win for them.
Lost verse Ga. Southern (3-1) 24-9 - USA was by far the best team Ga. Southern has played. This was not a good loss
Lost verse Louisiana Lafayette (2-3) 28-23 - This team was blown out by BSU and lost to NMSU This was a really bad loss
Won verse Nicholls (1-3) 41-40 - This team plays all lower division level teams - This was a Hauck style close win over a bad team.
Won verse SDSU 42-24

The simple fact is that South Alabama minus the one decent win over Miss. St. has two bad loses and one near miss. It may be that South Alabama is the Idaho for SDSU, but I don't think so since they also beat them last year. I expect the coaching staff has looked at what they did in order to work on their game plan.

On Defense: Turn SDSU into a one trick pony - DP (some might say they already are). Gang tackle to help minimize the effectiveness of DP's ability to change direction. Keep the lid on Aztecs' long ball. Wrap up, wrap up, wrap up.

On Offense: Sustain blocking to get the run game going. Use a short passing game to keep the LBs concerned about coverage and not just Sneed running. Get Boyd involved early with a couple of pops downfield. We need him focused from the get-go.

Special Teams: Hopefully, Pantels is kicking more PATs than FGs. Can't allow big returns. Be disciplined in coverage, maintaining lanes and, for crying out loud, no late hits.

We have to win the turnover battle and have at least one big play TD. If we can add a defensive score to that, we win. Since nobody not wearing scarlet & gray expects us to win, we may as well be aggressive on both sides of the ball and not be afraid to roll the dice. Frickin'-A, man, go for it!

SDSU= Seaworld, beat them with the orcas. Control the game, not trying to out punch them rather keep the d off the field. Manage the game while not shooting themselves in the foot and they will have a good chance at stealing one.
