News What’s next?

I counted 15-16 times the word Rebels appeared in the article.

One thing missing from the article was the NIL, CKK has zero control over it, now if the money people were truly upset with how their expenditures have been fruitless under CKK. It stands to reason that they will put up less money next season if CKK is brought back.

Something for CKK to consider, he doesn’t have near total leverage in this situation.

One of the jobs of a coach is to involve boosters so that they assist his program. Lon did it well. Hauck expected the money to be handed to him without effort.

Any lack of NIL from year to year is his fault. Sell yourself and the program to boosters since the boosters are huge supporters of the school. They don't need much encouragement, just be their friend.

Kruger quoted as saying bringing back entire returning core of players. We'll see about that. leads me to believe he doesn't even know who's gone if he is to be retained.

The core is marginal at best!

He should also say we will be fighting 6th place again and we will have to win 4 in March to save my job. Oh and he should also make excuses for the lack of NIL he will have due to his poor identification skills as far as talent goes. Oh and he should also say his team still will be trying to figure out their identity in year 5. I could go on and on and on and….

This is beyond miserable for Rebel fans, boosters and anyone associated with this program, even in passing!

We could return the entire squad, healthy, Evans ready to go … and we’d finish in 5th.

His scheme, conditioning, tactics, motivations, etc … aren’t beating anyone. There needs to be talent plus chemistry. This team didn’t have enough of either. So a returning core? Who cares.

This is an indictment on his acceptance of being mediocre. The core of possible returning players aren't NCAA caliber as is.

DJT likely gone
Whaley likely gone
Hill out of eligibility
Henley was a junior. Maybe?
Hicks - dont see him wanting to return here in current situation
Bedford was a senior. Didn't he also have major beef with CKK?
Rishwain out of eligibility
Whiting... maybe?
Ndiaye maybe
Cherry maybe

Dunno if James Evans gets eligible and stays. Ice is in the portal. Bannarbie was a significant contributor.

Not the type of roster you keep a coach to avoid blowing up. Of course, nobody is saying thats why they'd keep CKK.

Who exactly is his core? Whaley, Hicks, DJ, Henley, Cherry, Pape?
So one injured and now out of shape big, 1 widely erratic guard, one PG whose probably gone, Henley ok, Cherry ok, Pape- project.... that's not exactly a core...

Actually some are saying CKK should be kept to keep the core intact. As DJ is almost for sure gone, and Whaley likely gone, the rest are not a big deal to keep. I cannot believe anyone thinks it is worth keeping DJ around at $400k. I would think our NIL people are not behind putting money up to get CKK a good team when he has not done well even when he had good players(year 3 of ckk). That alone would seem to doom CKK.
