What's the most crucial game of the year?
What will our home record be?
Is an undefeated home season a realistic goal?
Can we start 3-1?

Give me something to get my mind off of Beard and basketball.

Most Crucial game of the year for me is the Central Mich game. Tough MAC team on the road (like NIU last year). A win there could be huge as it sets up a possible 3-1 start to the season.

Colorado State appears to be the toughest home game so that one is very important as well, but overall lots of "winnable" games at SBS this year which is nice. I think we can steal a road game or 2 in conf. (San Jose State, Hawaii com to mind).

Very excited to see this team in the fall with all the new recruits and 5th year transfers (La'Keith Walls). The defense has been flying around all spring, very interested to see them against Jackson State and moving forward. I think we will "bend dont break" and hold teams to more 3's than 7's.

My head is about to explode from all the mbb stuff. Need some stability... like UNLV football!

Saw Jackson St. is going to wait to name their starting QB, but I'll be surprised if it's not jr. LaMontiez Ivy.

It would be nice to see our defense step up to hold opponents to under 30ppg and 400ypg this year. It's been...what?...seven straight years of being above both those numbers? Sheesh!

Just an idea of where Jackson St. is at the QB position. QB Jarin Morikawa played significant snaps there last year. He was 4th string here under Hauck before transferring. Entirely new staff, lots of seniors on their team but a smaller roster.

Keeping the cannon RED and making sure the other team takes a salty shot to the mouth.

I think we can go 5 wins at home. Only real question will be against Colorado.

More realistic of a possibility than it has been in recent past.

Tough question. Depends on if we can get out of UCLA without any significant injuries. Central Michigan is possible with all our starters.

Comments.
I am afraid that Sanchez becomes to us what Altman was for the other team. A very good coach that does a lot with very little that doesn't get the support he needs. It's a realistic fear, he has gotten some support, but its not enough for me to be comfortable. If he loses favor with the Fertittas, he's in trouble. Honestly Sanchez's only limitation is how much support he gets. The sky's the limit if he is given (within reason) the proper tools and resources. I m almost afraid that Sanchez will one day become a victim of the petty politics that embodies UNLV higher administration.

3-1 is possible.

I will be in the minority here but I think the swing games are Hawaii and Fresno State. Hawaii because it is always a difficult road trip. Fresno because they are very similar to us in talent. Would be huge to start season 1-0 in conference before a tough trip to San Diego State and a long trip to Hawaii.

Home record 5-1 loss to CSU. Reno will also be tough. 4-2 would be ok but means we probably have to beat Hawaii on the road and maybe SJSU or Directional Michigan to get to 6 wins.

Much more manageable schedule but still has some tough spots.

The UCLA game scares me. It really does. We've gotta stay healthy against a team that is going to be bigger and stronger than us at most positions. Decker's injuries started against UCLA last year (granted, it was a non-contact injury... but still).

At the same time, that was a game that should have been 10-3 at halftime. So it's not like they came out of the gates and blew the doors off. Not saying that to suggest we could win, but just hoping that the physical disparity isn't so big that we get crushed in the process.

Let's hope Coach Belton has done his job and these guys' bodies are ready for the physicality.

I agree with this. I would hope, however, that Coach Sanchez has these guys playing with their hats on fire to avenge for the miserable loss at Fresno last year.

We're definitely years away from being able to take any opponent lightly.

They rebounded well from a very physical game against Michigan last year. I think we should be ok. Our depth isn't where it needs to be yet, but the drop from our 1s to our 2s isn't as significant as years past.

I would have loved if we could have ditched UCLA game and replaced it with a lower end MAC or Sun Belt opponent.

I don't understand how these things work. Is this still a "money game" for us, even though they gave us a home game, too? Do we know the payout?

These things get done a number of years in advance.

Not sure on the specifics, but I am sure there is some type of 'buyout' to cancel a game.

Especially a return game.

Not so worried about the team "holding up" as I was last year. Having to play Michigan and UCLA in a short turnaround was too much for us especially after NIU, another physical season opener. With Jackson St. to open its much more manageable from that standpoint. The team also looks much better conditioned after another off season with Belton.

We cant afford to Buy Out (or back out ) especially this close to the season. I dont mind having the big games as long as its home and home. Looking ahead the scheduled play out much more favorably with less "murderers row" type situations to open the seasons.

No I don't want to get out of the game either. My question was just my wondering if we are getting paid for this game or not... I know the Michigan game gave us a big payout, but they're not coming to SBS. Does UCLA still pay us big bucks even though it was a home-and-home?
