Anyone know how Wood performed at the combine and did his stock rise or fall?
What is more amazing:?
Last years UNLV team produced 2 1st round draft picks OR
Last years UNLV with 2 1at round draft picks finished 7th in a down year MWC
I believe RV and CW are first round picks. If CW sneeks in the lottery, it would be huge for UNLV.
During games you would think RV is not doing shit!, you look up at the scoreboard and he has 16 points. He has a great shot. There are plenty of slashers in the NBA and less great shooters.
I'd love to see Vaughn or Wood go to the Lakers as the 27th pick. Here's another mock draft that has Vaughn going 29th to the Nets because "he could develop into a consistent three point threat." http://sports.yahoo.com/news/isaacsons-nba-mock-draft-050100314--nba.html
I took a little bashing earlier in the year from many here. I posted an article with commentary regarding potential draft stock, specifically Vaughn. A scout basically said his stock at the next level would be higher, that he'll be a better pro than he was showing in college. He went on to say that Rice/staff wasn't developing Vaughn at all.
You guys had the talent, just not the staff to do anything with it. You'll see more of the same next season.
The fact we could have 2 NBA 1st rounders and had as poor a record as we had makes your comment hard to dispute. However I thought the team played hard and mostly played well for much of the season. Our lack of depth and lack of experience hurt - those were real handicaps even if the anti-Rice crowd won't admit it. That won't be the case this year. If Rice doesn't get it done(1st or 2nd MWC, at large bid to the NCAAs, strong showing in the NCAAs) he won't ever get it done. It really is now or never.
Why don't we wait and see how next season turns out first.Level-headed response vs "cool story bro." or my post being deleted. I root for you guys, but as an objective outsider, your coach can recruit and that's where his skillset stops.
It's a difficult issue for an AD, do you make a move and drop a coach that continues to land great recruits or sacrifice a few recruits to get a true competitor running your program? Unfortunately, for you guys, you watch a team with talent finishing in the lower half of your conference.
