I don't normally pay attention to the comments..., well obviously I do. Anyway, I thought this was an interesting comment in the RJ announcement of the televised game. It seemed as if this "Irish in Vegas" possibly knew of a deeper reason for the growing TV exposure...

I don't think it growing or shrinking. Don't get me wrong it may appear that way since we shed the MWC contract and signed with ESPN (and extended CBS). The conference itself has a better TV contract overall and the MWC is currently top G5 conference.

This game was always likely to be televised as a opening weekend game. This game being televised is more about the success of NIU than it is about UNLV. Also, it's the first game of a HS turn turn FBS college coach (pretty good storyline and potential lure for viewership). Not that I'm complaining but I think the Irish in Vegas may just be spouting off.

He may know something about new 'doors' opening for UNLV but I don't it has anything to do with the game being televised. I hope he's right and something is happening at UNLV.

The MAC recently signed a Deal with CBS Sports Network this offseason to show more games. It probably has more do to with this but it would be surprising for a HS Coach making his debut at an 11 win team not to be televised.

Just glad its on for whatever reason. I do though believe that there is a big push being made by the athletic department to expand the UNLV brand so to speak and make us look as attractive as possible.
