The images below show where UNLV falls relative to other MWC programs at this moment (but not including today's commit Javin White) according to Scout.com and 247Sports.

The coaching changes at Colorado State and UNLV gave them a late start, but we'll see where things end up.

Looking back at the classes since 2003, the Rebels typically sign between 19 and 24 players per class. (Scout) recap for UNLV since 2003:

To me, a lot of solid developmental players this class but no really explosive or highly productive guys. Only Otukolo jumps out as ready to play right now so hopefully the current players can continue to rise and adjust to the new staff.
I know the plan is to have a balanced offense. Boyd is the only real stretch the field player returning on the roster and the corner back position is very inexperienced.
Jordan Reed was still showing the bull sign in his photo with Cormier, he seems as though he will stick to playing in Tampa bit at least giving the team a look.
This is how I project the two deep without a lot of turnover, what is anyone else's opinion

Philyaw played on a win less team last season that gave up 45 points per game. High school height listing of 5'11 and he stands eye to eye with Sanchez so that should be a correct measurement. He was listed at 175 at De Anza but he does looks like he spends time in the weight room. He has speed and the physical skills to develop but its been rare to see a JC guy make the jump in recent years. It will be a major plus if he can because there is a major lack of depth at corner.

Kreitler measured 5'11 245 in high school and is listed at 6'0 269 in junior college. He's a quick tough guy on video that excels being on the move but has few clips as an inline blocker or sustained pass blocker. He will need a year to adjust to the taller and quicker defensive tackles on the FBS level. His energy will be a plus but it will be a big curve unless that team goes full pound it out on the ground next season.

As for Scoggins, Noone may beat him out but really it should be a three man race. Polu is a strong player but he needs a redshirt year.

As for Palendech, nearly every pass he completes is down the seam or short passes. A ton of poor coverage and you never see him throw in tight windows. He was only a redshirt freshman and played in a run heavy offense passing for just 981 yards as a senior in high school before signing with North Dakota. He should be more of a developmental player at quarterback than FBS ready.
Blake Decker has the better arm and is more of a complete quarterback but he has to stop being such a high risk player. Decker had three times the production of Palendech at the JC level with good running skills as well as more physical maturity and experience.

Obviously the turnovers were huge last year and typically came when we were moving the ball which were killer. I think Decker has some ability. If this staff can find a way to bottle up the good stuff he can do (Quarter and a half against Hawaii for instance) we will have something.

Really interested to see what RS Thomson brings to the table in the spring. Plenty of reps to go around for he Decker and Palandech.

What will help aide anyone who wins the job will be improved line play/coaching and the presence of a better run game. If those things also come around our offense will be much more effective.

I think Kevin Thomson will press Decker this season. There were some folks at camp last season that thought Thomson showed some flashes.

I will say this in Decker's defense, there were more factors in the total number of interceptions than just poor decision making. First off the offensive line played well below what many expected. The loss of Jefferson really hurt the depth and forced some shuffling. That in turn hurt the pass protection a lot. Decker took a beating last season. The loss to graduation of Tim Cornet hurt as well. This is no knock on Kieth Whitely I think he is a solid back with good vision and feet and instincts, that said, he does not have Tim's game breaking type speed. Opposing teams had to account for that ability when game planning for the Rebels the year before. With Tim in there teams had to commit an extra guy to the box. This last season with the struggles of the offensive line and lack of big plays in the run game Decker rarely saw softer coverages. Lastly he had to work much of the year without Devante Davis. Boyd and Keys who were both freshmen showed a lot of promise but also had their fair share of growing pains, like all freshmen do..

I saw that we have jumped to #8 with the latest commitments as of 1/25. I can't wait until next week!

It has been a really solid class so far. Won't know for a year or two how good of a first class it was for this staff but on paper it sure looks pretty good.

Can you link where you saw this?

I have been looking at different sites and don't see where we are 8th in the MWC for this recruiting class anywhere.

I am excited about what I am seeing, trying to take in as much information as I can.
