Between being charged $50 to $150 for parking with no plans in place for buss rides to the stadium, I would say Unlv have got some major issues.
It's telling that we don't have parking fixed. This is not an issue that is too hard to overcome. Our AD has most likely known for months she was gone and she didn't give parking any priority at all. So, here we are. No plan - No AD and nobody stepping forward to fix the issue.
Hire me for a one month contract - give me a 10% commission on revenue and a tad of authority - and I can fix it. So can any one of 100 people in town with experience in transportation and parking.
Assume 35000 attendees
60% get there on their own either parking at the stadium, city busses or transportation from their hotels. Leaving 14000 needing transportation.
Parking area is available of at the T&M.
30 shuttles x 40 fans per shuttle x 6 trips per hour = 7200 fans per hour. Operate 3 hours prior to game time and 2 hours post game.
Income - @ 3 fans per car parked. $ 15 per car = $ $72000 revenue to move 14400 fans.
Expenses - Busses - Each bus for 5 hours with driver = $ 2500 - x 30 busses = $ 75000
Staff - Hire 8 cashiers to stand at the front of T&M parking areas. Hire 12 parking attendants to supervise lines for fans getting on busses ( pre-game at the T&M - Post game at Allegiant) hire 2 supervisors . Total employee expense ( 22 x 5 hours x @ $ 20 = $ 3500 staff pay and expenses ( taxes, workman's comp etc)
Total expenses- Busses $75,000 = staff $3500 = $ 78500
Expenses $ 78500
Income $ 72000
Total cost to UNLV $ 6500 Plus my 10 percent commission on total revenue ( $7200)
This is only one plan. There could be dozens of other workable plans.
The issue is this could be done and it appears nobody is doing it. All it would take is the University President to pick up the phone and assign the task to an assistant.
