Couldn't get the link to work for me..I think I know which article is being used for the info.
Obviously nothing is set in stone, and things can change, but if you look at the patterns and follow the money, I think it is a pretty safe assumption that UNLV is at least making an effort to improve their brand and become more attractive to a Power 5 conference. The PAC-12 is the obvious choice, and with the construction of the medical school that fills a requirement. Something leads me to believe thought that the Big-12 might actually be the landing spot for UNLV if in fact they move. The Big-12 has wanted to expand their brand West for some time now. They also are in need of some more teams so that they can have a conference championship game.
If you look at all the things being done, Mendenhall Center, Baseball complex, Football practice facility in the works, and now a new football stadium, it points to a University that is trying to make itself as attractive as possible to a Power 5 conference. Las Vegas has a population base that would be welcomed, for TV and advertisement revenue etc.
Sanchez doesn't have to UNLV football into a powerhouse program for this move to get made. Just make it respectable.
Now it is the jobs of Coaches Rice, Sanchez and Chambers to get us over the proverbial hump.
