LV Sun had an article on a transfer from Princeton that looked pretty good. Lots of schools on this guy. 2 years left. What do you think of him? First ivy leaguer to Unlv?

I think Jaelin would be a great player for UNLV. From what I have read on him he has a high basketball iq, has a good shot. Depending on who else we pick up he would probably start at the 2.

The guy from Princeton and the 2 guys from West Virginia would be a heck of a haul!
I was wondering if the Jordan McCabe WVU connection might help bring Cottrell back home. If we get him and Bridges our frontline is set and it would dominate the MWC.

He can come to the “Harvard of the west! Maxson’s vision finally coming to fruition. 🙄

Seriously, someone needs to give this guy some life advice about what a degree from Princeton means...after basketball. Not that you can’t do well with a degree from UNLV but come on now!?

The contacts/friends made at an Ivy League school can be worth $ millions over a lifetime.

While having an Ivy League degree is definitely prestigious, about 90% of the college majors nowadays teach no real job skills, so the name of the school on the diploma is unfortunately carrying less weight with employers nowadays. That being said, having those Ivy League connections is definitely a plus, but connections can be made at any institution anyways.

Way less weight. The major matters more than the school, I think … a run of the mill degree from a broad type of major … not ideal.

Skilled labor has always been a great avenue, probably carries as much weight as anything nowadays.

Hey Joe or anyone… Can you give us on the Tark board some insight on how and who we are recruiting?

I’d still take my chances in an interview with “Princeton” and a nice summer internship on my resume.

The school absolutely matters if you use it correctly, Im not even talking about an Ivy or Stanford or Duke which will get you a long way no matter who you are sitting in front of for an interview. There are some other schools that take care of their own like no others, If you graduated from SC or ND and use the network you will always have a job.

You only need a job if you do have the ability to make it on your own! Most of the people I went to school with at UNLV who went out on their own are set for life not because of the school, but because of their blue collar drive that pushed them out on their own.
