So the earliest we hear anything will be tomorrow.

I personally like the longer the search goes on.... I'm not satisfied with Cronin at that price at all.
Yes, I understand $1mm is coming from UnderArmour...point is that $3mm is still going to a coach to coach UNLV and I believe at that rate we should be paying for a Top 10 coach....not a Top 50 coach.
Great post.I understand what you are saying here but...
To get close to the 3 million we need a coach affiliated with UA. If not we can only get to around the 2 million mark.
Cronin already makes 1.8 and I believe with incentives is closer to 2.2. The guy wouldn't leave his current job to come here for the same money.
So if you think Cronin is worth around 2 million a year this deal makes total sense. UNLV/Boosters just poached a coach from his alma mater paying him the same salary. The 1 million from UA is not our concern. In our eyes it doesn't exsist.
The further down the list of candidates we get, I would imagine booster support starts to dry up.
We end up with a guy like Menzies for 750k. 4 years from now we will either be talking about it being a great hire or people will be bitching 'you get what you pay for' or 'if UNLV ands its booster put their money where their mouth was this wouldn't happen'
With Cronin the narrative changes. If it doesn't work the complaints will be how come we paid this guy so much! Then the revisionist history starts. 'We could have had Pitino' or 'Jay Wright wanted to come here but TKM screwed it up'
At least UNLV is making an effort. Whether it ends up being the right hire nobody can say for a couple seasons. One thing nobody can say is that the administration isn't doing everything within their means to bring us a coach they feel can fix this thing.

Great post.
So the UA contribution is based only if we are able to get an UA coach? I guess I didn't know coaches wouldn't be available to come to a school based upon whether the school was a nike/Adidas/UA school. I thought the UA contribution was so that UNLV became a UA school and not a Nike school...
I guess Cronin hire isn't a sexy/desirable one in my eyes and it would alienate the legends from our past that Lon was able to bring back.
To me, there isn't enough positives about his potential hire. Only a question mark on his ability and knowing we turn our backs on our legends again.
Mark my words, it's going to be Menzies for $750,000.
Frank Martin!!
