If they would cut the schools in Div 1 dramatically it would enrich true Div 1 schools with better talent (Div II should be a minor league) and more MONEY? Too me this is not a good look at all. Way too many Div 1 schools. I do not know the nuances on how the money works.

Too many d1 schools? That is part of what make March madness interesting.

And realize, P5 conferences would want MW to go to D2 and keep all the tv money for themselves.
Every school with big arena that is d2 might as well plow there arenas under.

Exactly. D1 would be only the power conferences, or stripped down. It's what makes NCAA Tourney so great right now. They already screw many of the little conferences over with the "play in games" to start the tourney.

Now, on the football side, D1 should only play D1 teams. Some states that isn't possible as they have to play other public schools within the state.
