I still think they would be a good second team along with NIU if NIU ends up in the MWC!

It could have been a really good win for the MWCSan Jose went 5 OTs the other night. It could’ve went all night but the refs were just so awful they wrecked the momentum of the game going back and forth.
I like Toledo much better than any FCS addition.I'm with you.
Last year unlv vs Kansas in the guaranteed rate bowl attendance was 26k, besting this years attendance by 5k.Have any of you been tracking attendance numbers at Bowl games? B1G Rutgers vs Big-12 Kansas State, in Phoenix in late December. Attendance 21,659. How did ULNV/Cal do? 24,420. Memphis WV? 12,022. I believe that, playoff games aside, the only teams ahead of UNLV in attendance are Tulane/Florida at 41,472, in Tampa.
So, grumbling aside at the fact that neither Cal or UNLV are very far away from LA, it is a pretty good look for UNLV. TV ratings weren't too bad either (link below).
We'll see how my Cougs draw tonight against Syracuse. I assume USC/Texas A&M will do well tonight in Vegas.

Hmm. Wonder if we can afford him. He is making $265,000/year at Montana. And What happened with him at UNLV? Fun fact that I discovered, former WSU AD Jim Livengood hired him at UNLV? I'm telling you guys, you can't even turn around without running into a Coug or someone Coug-connected. We are everywhere. Drinking all your beer, stealing your drunk women, keeping law enforcement busy.Middle of the week. Days after coach left..Kinda took wind out of sails.
What's the word on the WSU coaching search? You guys should consider Bobby Hauck the HC at Montana. Guy is killing it there. Should be your number 1 target.
He struggled here because he tried to build his program like he did in Montana where he had the local support with 0 effort. He refused to recruit locally, and expected locals to want to walk on. He didn’t really connect with the boosters either, he thought it would all be automatic. He would spend the recruiting season fishing in Montana.Hmm. Wonder if we can afford him. Hard to tell since everyone lies about attendance #s. For example, there were 'maybe' 1,000 people in the Potato Bowl stands. Maybe about 8k-10k in stands at the LA Bowl and that's being generous. Most of these should be nuked out of existence and replace with a home/away playoff post-season format.Have any of you been tracking attendance numbers at Bowl games? A lot more UNLV fans would have gone if the game was on the weekend instead of mid week. A weekend game would have likely been mid 30's or better.Last year unlv vs Kansas in the guaranteed rate bowl attendance was 26k, besting this years attendance by 5k.
Livengood was at AZ until he ****ed things up there then came to Vegas and proceeded to **** things up here.
I remember some calling him a bean counter and that is why we ended up with Hauck.Well in Livengood's defense he was trying to go all in on football and got the 'we're a basketball school' push back. (Allegedly)

Admit I never followed after he bailed at WSU. So why the hell did he leave Arizona for UNLV? I don't read anything nasty about him.Livengood was at AZ until he ****ed things up there then came to Vegas and proceeded to **** things up here.
Say whatever you want about Livengood but his successors were disasters. At least Livengood oversaw a bowl appearance and NCAA tournaments under his tenure. He wasn't handed a lot of beans.
Should have joined the MW..Admit I never followed after he bailed at WSU. So why the hell did he leave Arizona for UNLV? I don't read anything nasty about him.
Damn that is pretty good.I see that the UNLV v California game had 1.48 million viewers.
Livengood was actually decent and had potential he had a lot of ideas he wanted to implement but no support to do it. I know he was pretty damn direct with his opinions on building athletics that some didn’t like or want to hear.Say whatever you want about Livengood but his successors were disasters. No doubt. Lute Olsen was a hell of a coach at AZ at the time.Say whatever you want about Livengood but his successors were disasters. At least Livengood oversaw a bowl appearance and NCAA tournaments under his tenure.
I was not a happy camper when he hired Hawk as the new football coach. I didn't think an FCS hire was the right fit. And, when he brought in the basketball coach with no head coach experience who was eventually fired mid-season I was not happy then either. He was good at AZ but not the right fit for us imo. I retract what I thought about his AZ experience as I was not happy with the coaches he hired at UNLV.Admit I never followed after he bailed at WSU. So why the hell did he leave Arizona for UNLV? 295 yards and 4 TD's. Not a bad day.Congrats to Maiava for engineering that GW drive. Natives were getting restless at USC.
He was utter ass for 2.5 quarters. Let’s not act like he lit it up from whistle to whistle. Aggies D was burnt come the end of the 3rd. Maiva had some of the most ridiculous plays ever. He lead them when it mattered most by all means, but he wasn’t top 5 on that team for player of the game tonight. Riley better figure it out fast or he will be long gone if another season occurs like the last 2. Not sure he wants to put his eggs in Maiva basket, even though he’s looking like the starter as of now295 yards and 4 TD's. Not a bad day.

I watched one game of USC’s where they had a chance to comeback In the 4th quarter and he threw a pick 6. Then he threw another interception on the next drive. He's equally capable of putting a team on his back and leading it to victory as he is of throwing a game away.
He's got to start making better decisions with the ball more consistently.
Talent is there but decision making has to improve.
