A lot of speculation about Lon helping Kevin in his head coaching responsibilities. Tim Buckley has a lot of experience in that role. He was Asst Head Coach at Indiana and held head coaching positions before. I don't know or haven't heard of the relationship between the assistants prior to the Otz buy out. Slocum and Buckley's roles and their ability are better judged by the new head coach. But if the decisions to grant scholarships and who they targeted were all controlled by Otz or not, hard decisions are about to be made or already were by Kruger. With all the releases of head coaches at name schools, many assistants will be applying for jobs. Texas, Indiana, Minnesota, UNM, etc. With over 900 transfers on the board, can Kruger mix hiring a new assistant(s) and still recruit the board. Apparently, he is by reaching out aggressively to some top point guards around the nation. This is a remarkable time for a young head coach to earn his stripes.
