I'd like to go to some games this year. One problem is I can't afford full price for tickets. What is the best way to get free tickets or say tickets for about $5? I'll likely be going to games alone.

Also have same question regarding tix for basketball season. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. - Alaina

Pop up at the Rebel Net tailgate. Usually somebody has extras.

If you can stomach the food....There is always tickets flying around at the tailgate....Great idea Joe...Spend $20 to park to get a free $5 ticket.... LOL... I'm sure Gripple will buy you a season ticket...

Oldschool have you ever gone to a UNLV football game? I have had tickets for years, and unless you are talking parking at the tailgate location, they have not charge to park out at the stadium in about 15+ years.

As for anyone that can't afford to buy a ticket, as cheap as they are, they probably should stay home and save their gas money. For someone to show up at the tailgates, which other people pay for, to get a free ticket, REALLY!

OldSchool - I am not always the best at recognizing sarcasm and apologize.

I just thought it was funny that someone was so concerned about getting a ticket for $5 when the cost to drive out to the game is going to cost at least that much alone. Even if they can't get a free ticket, you can easily buy a ticket for somewhere between $10-20 for most of the games (not UCLA). Funny that I could sell my tickets for the UCLA game for enough to pay for the cost of my season tickets.

HMMMMMM.... (Just kidding) I can't wait for the first game.

Several rude, ignorant responses to an honest question. Given the state of UNLV football, I'd have thought people would be happy there's a person or person's interested in going to games. How many people do some of you think are going to want to attend games when the team starts 0-3? And that's not a knock on Coach Sanchez or the players. UNLV plays 3 quality PROGRAMS the first 3 games, with 2 of the 3 away. I'd predict 0-3 with Urban Meyer or Nick Saban as HC. Sadly, most people won't take that into consideration come game 4 against an FCS team.

The least expensive tickets for the non prime games are $14 + fees. As far as me spending that much in gas, I live near campus. It's 16 miles round trip. My car gets about 25mpg city, so I'd use about 2/3 tank of gas. That's about $2.25 with current gas prices. I'd hoped this year to finally be able to afford tickets for games, then life happened. And, that could easily happen to the people mocking and judging me.

Jspilatro thank you for the polite, sincere response. Unfortunately, after the other response, I have no intentions or interest to go ANYWHERE NEAR THE TAILGATE LOT. Wouldn't want to bring my poor person cooties around the big spenders.

No one was mocking you. Mostly just ribbing each other. People at the tailgates usually have extra tickets and share them freely.
If you want to trade coming up poor stories then bring it. OSR and I can go toe to toe with you on that one.
Now if you want to have a very good time with some of the best UNLV fans then stop by . If not your loss.

PS. Joe do you remember where the tailgates are anymore. Lol

gripple29,
Thanks for the explanation. I haven't been on this board long and don't know any of you. Hard to differentiate joking around from mocking. Think it's even more difficult for me because I used to post alot on the message board of my Alma Mater, and the moderator allowed personal attacks on some people but not others. I was one of the ones allowed to be attacked and thus I stopped posting on that site.
I'd truly like to go to some games. This will be my 4th season in Vegas and this is now my adopted home town. To me, UNLV is a treasure to this area, and it bothers me that more people don't realize this to be true.

Welcome to the board, GoRebs!

I personally encourage you to mock anyone you want and I will ban them instantly if they even think of typing any rebuttal. I'm kidding, of course. Personal attacks aren't allowed here. If you feel attacked please let one of us know instead of disappearing.

I hope I make it to some games too. I suffer from anxiety and will be coming alone, so if I don't make it that will likely be the reason. I'm outgoing, but situations around new people can be very difficult for me at first. I'd really like to make a few games though, as it's been several years since I went to a college sporting event in person. Plus I want to do my best to support the UNLV teams.

I have fun with it, but do sometimes go a little far.

As for tickets, I think I must have given away at least 50 over the last few years at the tailgate party. I used to get 4 tickets per game and my older doesn't go anymore, so now I get two tickets per game.

As for tickets, with the exception of the UCLA game (will be very expensive) you can normally find a $10 ticket from a scalper for a end zone seat. Now, if Sanchez does a great job, tickets may end up going up in price quickly. Then, I will be back to the end zone again.

Rebel1986, no hard feelings... I planned to try going to conference games. UCLA will likely be a crazy atmosphere. Not interested in Idaho State. So I'm thinking maybe 1-2 of the conference games. I haven't heard if UCLA is sold out or not? For everyone involved, I hope it is SRO and UNLV gives the Bruins a good game.

GoRebs! Welcome to the board. Don't take it personally when snarky responses pop up, it's just part of the board. You'll definitely have a couple here and there. But there is a good way to deal with them. Use the Ignore Function - To ignore (not read) any specific members posts, just click their name and click 'ignore'.

I personally have never used the ignore function and just personally ignore and do not respond to certain posts or members.

The board is addictive and a great source of information. The Confidential Board is great for basketball info but football has yet to catch on over there.

I can not give much advice as Ive only been to 3 games in 30 years. I will how ever say do not miss the UNR game and try to pick a game they could win , winning games = more fun. The tailgaters are awesome and worth meeting, again only have met a few and at the basketball games. Enjoy the season

I'm a graduate of Youngstown State University. From my Freshman year in 1986 until mid 2002, I missed only 4 home games. Went to ALL 6 FCS CHAMPIONSHIP games YSU played in and several road games. Went to my first YSU football game in 1979. Started going to basketball games in 1982. Both men's and women's games. Rarely missed home games from 82-83 through 08-09, plus went to several away games. I haven't been to a college sporting event since March 2009. I ❤ basketball. Football I like, but don't ❤. I'm hoping to make a few UNLV football games and also at least one men's basketball games and possibly multiple women's basketball games. I've attended college sporting events at every level from NAIA to the BCS/Power Five....Saw Notre Dame play twice in person when Gerry Faust was HC...Saw ND play USC and Penn State. Also been to 3 football gamesand one basketball game at THE Ohio State University.
Really hoping to get to some games this season. I miss going to games and Las Vegas has become my adopted home town. I still follow YSU and OSU, but I'm a big fan now of UNLV. It's my hometown University. I used to love watching the Tark coached UNLV teams on TV back in Ohio. I'm the daughter of a coach, began playing sports at age 3 and I'm itching to go to some games. Would also be cool to meet some of you in person. I'd say UNLV has supplanted YSU as my favorite college team. Alot of things going on at YSU with which I disagree. Disagree with some things going on at UNLV, but this is my home now and I want to see the university as a whole succeed.
Go REBELS!!!!!
