Now the fans are shitty. Tonight when the game was tight nobody got on their feet. The two hype people suck. Also what happened to the cheerleaders going to the four corners with the U N L V signs to get the crowd pumped. Very little of our signature REEEEBEEELS chat and when it was going it was never sustained. I blame the student’s for not filling up their sections. I am a long time resident and fan but we as fans totally suck. I know the glory days may never comeback but that doesn’t mean that our home court still can’t be what it once was.

I don’t think you can hold it against the fans that are still showing up. They aren’t the problem. The empty red seats are the problem.

The product is hurting, the promotion is missing, the showmanship is absent, the in town competition is high level (not the on court competition). It’s a deadly brew for home court advantage.

Years ago I scoffed when Dave Cokin said UNLV would never regain the glory of the old days.

He was prophetic. It will never be the same. Power 5 conferences, evolving TV, changes to NCAA rules, and now with other athletic entertainment options today and in the future in Las Vegas, good luck bringing in past and future Rebel fans.

We are… USF

The players should make it a goal to try and fill up the seats. Start consistently making the top 25, start winning the conference, win some NCAA tournament games and fans would take the program more seriously. In the last few years it just hasn’t seemed like there was much to play for so the games seem less significant.

The players aren’t that good.

Juice is the most exciting guy. Black Dong (using that since autocorrect won’t use his real name)plays defense with intensity. I can appreciate that.

The midnight madness we had where they missed all their dunks was a foreshadowing of where we are at now.

This Sat game vs SDSU will be one of the best attended games all season, hope we can get 13k+ in their. I was actually surprised to see all the black in the stands for the Lobos game, sucks to lose like that as fans get disinterested quick. It's no where near it used to be but the lower bowl has been pretty full imo, our section is packed and loud. Let's keep this road momentum going.

Currently 39th in attendance at over 10k per game (I personally think it's around 8k) which isn't that bad.

The Rebels being Road Warriors, is encouraging. It’s a shame that that their baffling home-court failures have them at only a .500 record in conference play. And let’s keep in mind that their spotless road record has been against the dregs of a weak conference.

Should their successful efforts away from the T&M continue Tuesday, at Fresno State, I will be impressed. The Bulldogs are 14-6, and 4-3 in MW play. Their three losses have been to the top two teams in the league, Reno and Boise St. The third was, like the Rebels, an upset vs the Aggies of Utah State. Although, they did it as visitors.

They come in off of a two-game winning streak, which includes their last game, An impressive road win at San Diego State. The Rebels will need an effort that is a lot better than that which earned them closely-contested “‘W’’s at San Jose St., Air Force and Colorado St. And the Rebels will be playing on a short turnaround, while the Bulldogs will have what amounts to a bye, as their Saturday game with Air Force was postponed, due to the government shutdown.

But the Rebels have the talent to win that game. It’s just a question of whether they have the basketball intelligence to put that athletic ability to use, in the right way to succeed.

No, attendance was down before VGK. Publicity is non existent and losing at home consistently over the years will do it.

For me it isn't just UNLV athletics, it is the entire school.

I value the education I received there but don't feel any connection at all to the school. I really have no desire to support anything they do anymore. I have tried, but every time I walk away being disappointed and frustrated, and not just with athletics. Even a recent work-related interaction I had with them a few months ago left me totally puzzled as to what it is they are trying to accomplish.

No one there seems to care, or have any accountability to put their students or community first. It's all about them, and they don't even know what they are doing or what their own goals as a University seem to be. It just all seems to be going downhill for them and they aren't even trying to change.

I don't regret giving up my season tickets, and when I do go to games, I buy my tickets from people in the parking lot and get them for next to nothing.

I still am a loyal basketball fan and listen or watch every game I don't attend but at this point they could be ranked #1 in the country and I doubt that would change my attitude towards the school or how I will financially support the team.

Lots of people in that same boat.

It’s unfortunate that they’ve had a long time - decades - to fix things, improve them.... but hasn’t happened. Things get worse and worse. If this was a business, it would have shut down long ago and mismanagement would be the blame.

Anyone think the Golden Knights are causing a decline in Rebel attendance?
I haven't been to a UNLV basketball or Golden Knights game yet this season, but when I have looked at tickets for either, my thoughts are never "well, I'd go to the basketball game if the hockey game wasn't so expensive" ... it's "I don't want to leave frustrated and disappointed after a basketball game."

With that said, I am trying to sell tickets for the one basketball game I have tickets to, and am going to tomorrow's VGK game. I intended on going to both, but will be out of town for the basketball game. (Anybody want in the building for cheap against Wyoming? :) )

UNLV is ignoring one of the big problems that is losing them fans. Jessup and his personal political agenda has pushed a lot of my friends to cancel their football and basketball season tickets. I am still not sure if I will continue to buy season football tickets as long as he is President at UNLV.

Isn’t the amount of not caring absolutely unnerving? You’d think being a former athlete, he’d understand and embrace it. But his philosophy is compete and don’t bring bad attention to the school. And do it with bare bones money. He’s been bad for UNLV athletics. So was Smacktrack and Ashley... and Harter..... and Maxson.... Guinn was too short, unfortunately. I think he saw the writing. When the hell has UNLV had a president that was actually pro-athletics? Baepler?

He's something else alright. 11 students complain about mascot or the REBEL name and he stops what he's doing and has a meeting with them. My daughter was excepted to UNLV School of Dentistry next fall and I'm really trying to find a reason for her to go there. She sees the apprehension with me when we talk about it. Not good, I need to keep thinking positive.
