I was pissed when I read that too but then I started thinking about it. Why would Nike design the logo "for free"? What's in it for them? They would probably then have complete financial control in its use & demand compensation. DRF is too smart and as a lawyer she must have figured that it would be better to contract out the service in order for UNLV to get the full licensing compensation for use of the image rather then give it all or even share the money with Nike. What she didn't count on was getting a crappy logo that no one is gonna pay licensing fees to use.Did you guys see that Nike offered to redesign our new logo for free? Based on our contract with them. So what does UNLV do? They raise $60k for this terrible looking new logo. UNLV has turned into a total embarrassment!

What? Are you bailing because the Rebels had one bad game? Have you forgotten the five of six that they won prior to that? Apparently, I am not in my right mind.Who in there right mind would turn down George Karl twice? Even Ben Howland? Menzies was their absolute last choice. He had even pulled his name out of consideration. They are just not good at hiring coaches at UNLV. They get an F-.
They should have removed the logo as soon as they witnessed the backlash. They were stubborn and only finally gave up when the figured out how badly sales of merchandise has plummeted over the last couple of years.
On average I would buy 4-5 shirts a year either for me or for my kids, and since the new logo I have bought nothing. I expect a lot of other people did the same.
Do you have alzheimer’s. We just lost to BucknellWhat? Are you bailing because the Rebels had one bad game? Have you forgotten the five of six that they won prior to that? Karl would have been looking for a soft spot to semi-retire ala Massimino. Howland would have stayed just until he had some success. At which point he would have bolted for the P5 as fast as he could.
We should be thanking the lucky stars that aligned to bring us the wonderful coach that we have. Menzies will succeed, and he’ll stay, if they realize that you must pay him, commensurate to his work.
The ex-AD, the Board of Regents and the boosters, that totally botched the search for a replacement for Dave Rice, fell over backwards into a patch of four-leaf clovers. They couldn’t have done it worse yet came put smelling like a rose. It turned out that, even though no one wanted him, Marvin Menzies was the ideal candidate for the job.
You want to go chasing “name” coaches have a nice time. There’s a very talented one re-building a good program in the desert.

Nothing good can come of it.
It is easy to show up for a big fat paycheck and do nothing!
