I was pissed when I read that too but then I started thinking about it. Why would Nike design the logo "for free"? What's in it for them? They would probably then have complete financial control in its use & demand compensation. DRF is too smart and as a lawyer she must have figured that it would be better to contract out the service in order for UNLV to get the full licensing compensation for use of the image rather then give it all or even share the money with Nike. What she didn't count on was getting a crappy logo that no one is gonna pay licensing fees to use.
I'd guess that was all in play and well beyond the initiation phase before DRF got there. She was officially hired June 1, right? Logo was officially announced end of June. Smells of TKM ignorance and lack on contractual terms to me.
Jessup is the one who wanted the new logo. It had nothing to do with the AD at all. Jessup is an idiot. They should make him wear a dunse hat around. He should have fired TKM for a horrible job she did. She created a multi million dollar defecit in the athletic department. No way should she have ever gotten that 6 month extension. It is the blind leading the blind at UNLV!

Karl would have been looking for a soft spot to semi-retire ala Massimino. Howland would have stayed just until he had some success. At which point he would have bolted for the P5 as fast as he could.
We should be thanking the lucky stars that aligned to bring us the wonderful coach that we have. Menzies will succeed, and he’ll stay, if they realize that you must pay him, commensurate to his work.
The ex-AD, the Board of Regents and the boosters, that totally botched the search for a replacement for Dave Rice, fell over backwards into a patch of four-leaf clovers. They couldn’t have done it worse yet came put smelling like a rose. It turned out that, even though no one wanted him, Marvin Menzies was the ideal candidate for the job.
You want to go chasing “name” coaches have a nice time. There’s a very talented one re-building a good program in the desert.

Great to hear the Athletic Department officially announce that they’re done with that garbage logo!
They should have removed the logo as soon as they witnessed the backlash. They were stubborn and only finally gave up when the figured out how badly sales of merchandise has plummeted over the last couple of years.
On average I would buy 4-5 shirts a year either for me or for my kids, and since the new logo I have bought nothing. I expect a lot of other people did the same.

Yup... I have bought nothing with the new logo and I always buy UNLV gear.. I was actually given a hoodie with the new logo on it as a birthday gift last year. It's never been worn and will more than likely end up in a donation bag at some point soon.
Don't expect the "frontiersman" logo to return until Harry Reid completes his stint as "distinguished fellow" at UNLV, but I will settle for the arched UNLV logo that the athletic dept has stuck with.

Cant blame her. I would do the same thing if given the opportunity.
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
When someone uses connections to get a job they are not qualified for I will not only hate the player, I will also hate those who helped the player. TKM was able to use unethical means to get high paying jobs that she is not qualified to have. I wonder if she has enough dirt on people to get this job, or if there is another reason why she got the job, as for qualifications, that would be the last that would come to my mind!
