St. Mary's didn't make it to the tournament even though they had a 25-4 record, went 14-2 in their conference and had a RPI of 29 a BPI of 20 and KenPom rated them 22.

The killer was a SOS of 137. They lost to Georgia and Washington State. Beat Cal and New Mexico State. Split with Gonzaga -one each. Not nearly enough.

Compare to Syracuse who had an 18-10 record and went 7-8 in conference.
Their RPI was 46, BPI was 52 and KenPom had them at 51.

They're are in because of the SOS that was 22. Their OOC was not much more impressive than St. Mary's with the exception of playing Kansas. But in conference they played Duke, NC, Louisville, Virginia and Clemson. A few of them twice. Additionally, the rest of the ACC is mostly top 50.

We all know there are only two ways to get in the tournament - win the MTN tournament or get an at large bid. In order for us to get an at large bid we need to pay at least 5 top teams before we hopefully play Gonzaga twice and Nevada twice in conference.

We'll see MM's strategy the second the schedule is announced. Either he's serious about getting in or he's placing his entire bet on winning the tournament.

I've been a big supporter of MM but I won't be able to continue unless he get's serious. We'll see around the end of July just how serious he is.
