Was to begin on 30 March.

Does anyone know the plan? Has it been completely canceled? What are the implications of no spring ball?

My understanding is that the NCAA already cancelled any and all practices and all athletics for the rest of the school year. Either way, the state wouldn't allow them to practice anyways, so they will either have a late spring practice in the summer, no spring practice, or who knows?

What a tremendous bonus this is for schools like Boise State, who, if I'm not mistaken, nearly got their entire allotment of practices before it all went down. Ot at least a chunk of them.

I think they got about half of them in, maybe a couple more. Would've really been nice to get a peek at the Rebels. Of course, half the league is in the boat with us, new HC's and staffs. If things start on time this fall, there will be a steep curve for most programs to climb.

There will be summer workouts or one of two things will happen:
1) The will move back the start of the football season to allow for the equivalent of the summer workouts.
2) The season will be cancelled.

If you throw players into the regular season without the workouts that slowly build up their tolerance to being hit, you will end up with 90% of the players getting injured before the end of the season. There is a good reason why practice is started up with the players at first without any of their gear, then shoulder pads and helmets, then the full football uniform. The same with tackling and hitting where they slowly build up to full game time contact from limited contact as the practices progress.

A third option will be that the NCAA accounts for the teams that have already had a portion of their spring practices by allowing additional practices for those teams that have had no spring practice to make all things equal.

I hope that at the very least our players have play books and can virtually prepare for the season....Additionally, there is the possibility for team meetings remotely depending on NCAA rules.
