… Not many have any faith in KK, however, there are some and they know how to play local media, it’s old hat to them, media will grant these favors. I shouldn’t have to say much more, some people are really good in those circles. Water isn’t thick.
… Whitfield being gone actually hurts for those that want to see KK packing. Harper had his full trust and support with all moves. The interim won’t, they’re a placeholder, not there to make moves, they just want time to pass. But the interim is beholden to BOR …
… Northern controlled BOR wants KK to remain, but they are relatively toothless … but Harp is up for contract extension, BOR has power there.
… Budget is an issue, always has been but we are at the point, fans fully expecting another dud year, proving it again by a crippling gate … can UNLV afford to NOT part ways. It’ll cost more to keep him.
I haven’t swayed, I’m sure he’s gone. The replacement ? I don’t know.
I’m at the point of whatever, keep him, UNLV deserves what they get. Fire him and make another bad hire, UNLV deserves what they get.
… all this said, I do not like everything that’s going on. It’s like conjoined swirling storms … Whitfield leaving, the reasons why and timing is very fishy, seems more like he’s getting out of the way of trouble … no knowledge at all, just a gut feeling … and the conference stuff, which may be the issue Whit is dodging … seems like everyone will get screwed, defectors and loyalists. Too steep for the defectors, not enough coming to the primary loyalists. I’m half hoping it blows to shreds and UNLV gets a start over … years forward, I do think UNLV will be in a final home, a good conference. But it’s going to be rocky getting there.
