Before the game tonight I was really tempted to make a very large (for me that is) bet on CSU. I was thinking no way is UNLV gonna be within 10 points of CSU on only 2 days of practice, out of shape, Coleman & Tillis out and no games for over 30 days and playing at altitude on the road. It is just hard for me to bet against the Rebs and for once I am glad. We outplayed CSU start to finish with the exception of 2 horrible lapses, one in the first half and the 11 point outburst in 1 minute and 26 seconds in the second half.
We played hard start to finish even when the legs got a little heavy, this team has some fight in it. Loved the way Del Cadia was moving without the ball to come up with easy layups and also rebounding pretty strong in there. Nick Blake is going to become a force on this team before the year is over. He has a legitimate NBA body and plays like he belongs out there. I loved that they had him running some point out there. He just needs to learn to stay out of foul trouble and once he figures that out he will be playing 25 minutes a game.
These guys are gonna figure it out and be pretty descent come MWC tourney IMHO!

After calming down, I didn't think they had a chance, they got tired, but the offense at the end was totally inept. They gave a winnable game, will see on Saturday.

Blake will be very good with experience, Del Cadia is big kid, but lacks the skill set, he be great if UNLV had a big down low you had respect offensively. Team is just not very good, the offense is set for guys who can create on their own, Hamilton is it, and if it takes him 26 shots to get 25-28 points, team can't win, Jenkins has to be better then 2-10 from the field, this team has such a small window to win games.

Funny. I saw the line and salivated (and bet) on UNLV, even though I admitted that were some historic new variables so it’s hard to figure things. For me, it came down to UNLV is too capable of scoring from the outside to lay points with CSU. Any team can drain 13 threes in a fluke type of game. Now while this UNLV team isn’t elite from the outside, they’re pretty good from there with a few players. I bet basically on that - that UNLV has enough guys that can score from spots on the floor.

I think there was a bit of leg fatigue and some mental fatigue. Part of it may have been we are who we are at the end meaning we don’t have a ton of structure offensively, we take (and make) some tough/bad shots. I think that caught up to us too.

What stood out to me the most was how comfortable Nick Blake looked bringing the ball up the floor. Of all the options available, or lack there of, he struck me as having the most capability of creating for others. It would
Be interesting to see him get some backup PG time to see what, if anything, he can do at that spot seeing as how that will still an area of concern next season unless the staff can plug it with another quality recruit.

Jenkins has been lackluster thus far but I suspect he will get things going. It’s hard to imagine that the jump in conference (which lets be honest...is it really a huge jump in competition?) had led to the drop in his performance.

I’ve been surprised at his low minutes. I think Blake is as ready as anybody on the team. He does look comfortable everywhere.

You see how well csu moves the ball and we don't? Our offense only works with 2 to 3 guys who can break down the d, but we only got one of thosr. Sigh.

it could be worse, they could bring that weave back ??? No thanks. No complaints from me. After 3 weeks without practice I thought we looked great considering. Starting PG out too ?? I thought we competed and played hard. defense could've been better but hey... I was very entertained watching both games. I thought we would get blown out !!! I was shocked we looked as good as we did.

Agree expectations were exceeded. Grill barely touched the ball and defense sucked, but for not playing for a month, expected worse.
