Sluka Redshirting and Transferring

Well that settles ALL my stresses and concerns. Hey everyone, Harvey Hyde says we’re gonna be fine
Dude someone needs to tell Harvey Hyde to get in contact with Suge Knight on his podcast!!

I think that would make both their days!!!

Remember those 2 summers they tried to make us wear those blue foam helmets on blue niagra?
I only did it 1x before the safety equipment lol. Going airborne off a 70 degree ramp and touching down about 150ft later at about 60mph on the bottom part of the ramp just wasn't doing it for me.

Whole story won't come out... we will get his side and Odoms side. I have more trust in the coaches. Slukas going to spin this in his way and his side is going to say we over promised and under delivered $$... It's cheap talk when you come in asking for more $$ after 3 games
Sluka himself kinda over promised, under delivered. His running was good, but passing is shit

I watch old wrestling clips on YouTube all day…80’s 90’s.

I like the promos, stuff that you didn’t catch when you were younger.

The new stuff that’s out today..it’s lame. Bad storylines etc. they are athletic and in top top shape but that’s about it.
The following clip was the classic ending of a WWF steel cage championship match between Bob Backlund and Jimmy Snuka. From that era, some of my favorite pro wrestlers are Ric Flair, Harley Race, Nick Bockwinkle, Bob Backlund, Don Muraco, Ivan Koloff, Barry Windham, Sargeant Slaughter, Terry Funk, etc. With his charisma and athleticism, Jimmy Snuka would have been a world champion, had it not been for his decisions, lifestyle, and legal issues.

We used to have to run up the tower and ride blue niagra then run back up and either of those 2 high slides before the park opened occasionally as part of lifeguard staff training...

This is from an article an article in LV Sun and I think it paints a pretty fair picture of what is most likely to have happened:

Sluka's current agent, Marcus Cromartie of Equity Sports, said Sluka was promised $100,000 by a UNLV assistant coach.

Multiple sources said no contract was ever signed, though all NIL agreements are supposed to go through official clearinghouses. UNLV’s NIL collective uses Blueprint Sports to handle its contracts.

Cromartie said that because Sluka was still completing his degree at Holy Cross, he could not sign a NIL contract, typically done with booster-backed third parties called collectives that serve a school's athletes — until after he enrolled at UNLV later in the year.

Sluka did not join the team until preseason practice in August. No written contract was ever put in place, Cromartie said.

“In July, there was no NIL payments. There was no $100,000, I guess you could say zero dollars. He was given a $3,000 relocation fee and that was it,” said Cromartie, who declined to identify the assistant coach and said UNLV head coach Barry Odom was not involved in the initial discussions.

Cromartie said after several weeks went by he reached out to first representatives of UNLV's collective and then Odom to discuss ways to pay Sluka the $100,000 he said the player was promised.

Cromartie said he suggested payments of $10,000 a month over the next five months and even $5,000 per month and was declined. Cromartie said Sluka was offered $3,000 per month by Odom.

“At that point I think Matt felt lied to. At that point he just wanted to stand up for himself,” Cromartie said.

According to a statement released by UNLV athletics on Wednesday, the program considered Sluka’s demands to be “implied threats” and a violation of NCAA rules, and declined to pay.

“Matthew Sluka’s representative made financial demands upon the university and its NIL collective in order to continue playing,” the statement read. “UNLV athletics interpreted these demands as a violation of NCAA pay-for-play rules, as well as Nevada state law. UNLV does not engage in such activity, nor does it respond to implied threats.”

When he was informed that no money would be forthcoming, Sluka followed through on leaving the team.

I think we made 6.25 or 7.25 an hour... you didn't work there for the pay, lol
You worked with the perception of ladies in bikinis and then your first summer you work sweeping up trash…probably.

2nd summer was mostly lazy river. The best.

So the entire crap storm hinges on a verbal offer of $100k from an assistant who won’t be named at a time that cant be nailed down. Got it.

Tell us if it was day or night?

In person or on the phone?

What city?

Who said it?

Not hard to cross check these things
He was named by Sluka’s father… it’s Marion. It’s in another article by cbs sports which goes into detail about the 100k verbal offer

Didn't sweep trash, pine needles occasionally, but collecting tube's at night was one of my least favorite duties... people found all sorts of places to not return tube's to... worst assignment was kiddie pool at end of season... nothing like windy evenings as temps drop with cold water blowing on you constantly... and yeah, fair share of ladies making wildly inappropriate comments, lol...

So dude waited until after he went through summer workouts in 114 degree heat, fall camp, three games of the season to address his concerns and to ask where his money is at?

He decided to wait until just before his fourth game that would have nixed his ability to red shirt?

Seems legit!

Not to hijack the thread but I was working for 100.5 FM back then Klassy 100. Working board op during a morning remote at WW. Accidentally left the mike on during a commercial break -- which got one of our morning hosts fired.

I got one of our morning show hosts fired at 100.5 FM (then Klassy 100) by accidentally leaving the mike open during a commercial break on a Wet N Wild remote broadcast. Whooo boy.

He was my favorite back in the day. Very early in his career I got to meet him my Grandfather did wrestling promotion in Portland for a bit. Russ Francis (old 49ers tight end) was wrestling then along with Dutch Savage, Rip Collins and Bull Ramos. I don't think any of them other than Russ were famous but got ringside seats and got to meet them.

bro, I wish harm on Sluka just like what Roddy did Stuka.

I don’t care what anyone says about wrestling Being fake.

I watched this for the first time in my life at my gym buddy’s house after SummerSlam 2024 ended.

We prefer matches we haven’t seen and I lived in TEnnessee at the time, so we didn’t get WWF, we had Mid south wrestling!!

You are missing so many. I so watched the WWF back in the day. Jake the Snake Roberts, the Killer Bees, the British Bulldogs, Rowdy Roddy (saw the Snuka clip further down), George the Animal Steele, Paul Orndorff. It was Nikoli Volkoff and the Iron Shiek against Sgt Slaughter and who? The Ultimate Warrior, gawd my memory is failing me.........

The owner of this website is a hero.

Hogan was a douchebag, he deserved a staple to the eye when he was a nobody in the AWA in 1983 at the showboat. lol.
