I think better competition, especially SDSU's brand of man-to-man defense is going to give us fits. I don't believe this turn-around yet given that the best team we beat was #7 and our wins are against 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 out of 11 in a pretty poor basketball conference.

It’ll be tight again. SDSU just struggled to beat Wyoming on the road. I think SDSU is a little better now than when we played them.
But boy, I’d love to be part of a bubble popper, especially with SDSU.

It would be a Quad 2 loss for the Aztecs and if we can nock off NM at their place it would be a Quad 3 loss for them.

Hicks is active on defense but he’s a huge liability on offense. Missed 2 layups and 2 three pointers (one an air ball)
Makes you wonder if the change in the way UNLV plays the game, or the fact that other teams are not ready for the changes now that UNLV is forced to play differently without Dedan Thomas in the game is why UNLV is on a winning streak?

20% from three. The only time he should shoot a three is with 2 or less seconds left. He only shoots 53% from the foul line. He almost airballed the front end of a one-and-one tonight. On a really quality team he wouldn't play.
In last 1:12 we went 2 of 7 from the line. Would have lost it if Sdsu made some shots down the stretch. But great win for CKK and the team.
That was the best played game of the year. Shot great, made some plays, good D and had some chemistry.
The team is into it. Bench is cheering. Lots of support for each other.
When I made my prediction, I didn't think that both Rish and Henley would shot 67% at high volume from 3. Evidence would also suggest that wasn't going to happen. I love being wrong and sweeping SDSU feels pretty nice though they clearly are not up to their usual standards of quality this season.
He did have a big hand in screwing up the season. But if they continue playing well and win mwc tourney, with Whaley out all year, that would sure be a case for him to be retained.
I agree with this still. A late season run means nothing if you're not in a position that is putting butts in seats and making a case for at large bids in the big dance.
4 Years of Kevin and we can kind of see what's coming. Right around 20 wins and no dancing unless you go on a MWC tourney run.

I like the fact that we won last night and swept SDSU for the first time in almost 15 years BUT I knew there would be some of this.
Kevin needs an NCAA tournament appearance to even be considered for retention.
Guess what though we have been swept by 2 of the teams above us Boise and CSU and to win the tournament they will have to face one of, if not both of to get to March madness. Could it happen maybe but with this team and this coach it’s far from something you could wrap your head around.
But what happens to this “faux” chemistry if DJ comes back and Henley slides back over to the SF spot?
This team still does not have a definitive identity and Kevin has been here how long now? This chemistry everyone is going on about happened due to something unexpected, not because they are evolving for the good. Lol
We will see what happens Friday night and next week but it’s tournament or bust for Kevin to be considered for saving his job here and if he does somehow do that, will there be excitement in the program going forward! I doubt it!
We are fighting for 6th place with supposedly more talent than everyone else in the conference. I don’t see recruiting taking off with Kevin still here, it will be more of the same.

Looks like after last night it pretty much locks up that UNLV will be playing Air Force next Wednesday. Wont face SDSU again unless UNLV and SDSU both make it to the final game. Which i doubt either team will be playing in
Retaining him would show that a couple of weeks of good play makes up for an entire season of bad coaching!

Yeah, we were the 5 seed that had to not only play Cal in San Jose, but also a rematch. I can't remember the last time a 5 seed got jobbed like that (though Okie State had to Play Oregon in San Jose too as a 5:12 and also got shellacked). That Montgomery 2:3 to 3:2 switching zone gave us nightmares and we had no idea how to attack it
I think we’re headed for another NIT appearance and when you consider that this team has less talent (injuries this year), no point guard and less depth than last season, it could and probably would be enough.
Considering Harper is putting everything into football, and will probably extend Lindy . I don’t see a real desire to blow 1.8 million on buyouts and a few more million on salaries.
I thought the season was over when DJ exited the stage, but just the opposite happened and the team is playing harder and are more fun to watch. Guys are hitting shots, getting rebounds and dunking. Where was this all season? They have to keep it going.
