Two-time heavyweight champ Foreman dies at 76
George Foreman, a two-time heavyweight champion, Olympic gold medalist and Hall of Fame boxer, died on Friday at age 76.
RIP
And his daughtersI loved how he named his sons George.
Great spokesman for the sport of boxing.
Rest in power, Champ!
Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!I re-watched the Foreman-Frazier fight in Jamaica 1973. It's a short one. Frazier caught one of the worst ass-whoopings in the ring I ever seen. 6 knockdowns in 1.5 rounds lol.
That was when they were both undefeated and Frazier was champ. Foreman just bucked him off with both forearms and bombed on him. Forgot there was no 3 knockdown rule back then. 6 times was brutal in 2 rounds lol.Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!
Stylistically a bad match up for Frazier he likes to go inside and Foreman pushed him away with that long reach and strength and killed him with jabs. Just ask Moorer about what that jab hits like.
Yeah that was crazy back then. I think that may have been why they instituted that rule. Frazier to his credit changed his aggressive style in the second fight and picked his spots but Foreman still pushed him off every time and eventually knocked him out TKO with two knockdowns. But Frazier also got up in that fight and similarly his corner called it quits, Frazier was tough. That was when they were both undefeated and Frazier was champ.
