I remember debating with several football insiders who made excuse after excuse for coaches like Arroyo. The problem was always, UNLV made the wrong hires for football, up and coming assistants who had no idea how to run a program. Now we see that the former HC can get things headed in the right direction rather quickly because they aren’t learning on the job.

We always make excuses for failure. Usually go with “needs more time” instead of looking at the situation with honesty. Even with honesty, there will be viable disagreements that stem from a different POV. But “just needs more time” as the only reasoning is a very weak hedge.
