This is not meant to rehash the same arguments on the failures of CDR and staff. But to look at the potential of UNLV based on recent recruiting success. Regarding potential I would anticipate a new prospective head coach would have a check list to consider such as if interested in a job such as $$$$, quality of facilities, program history, budget, attendance and conference affiliation. I am sure there are more. But the ultimate question will be whether coaching candidate feels confident in their ability to recruit highly rated prospects to a program they are considering. Also, I would be shocked if the coaches are not aware where the top players are going and from the out side looking in I would expect coaches have taken notice as to the ranking of the players that have committed to UNLV over the last 4 years.

To keep it simple, I decided to look only at McDonalds All Americans that have committed to UNLV the last 4 years and we have Anthony Bennett, Nigel Williams-Goss* (yes he never attended but he did commit), Rashad Vaughn and Stephen Zimmerman.

Next, I looked at Louisville with great facilities, past member of the Big East and current member of the ACC, with a HOF and two time national champion coach. To my surprise, RP failed to land any McDonalds AA's the last 4 years and since 2001 or in 14 years only 6 in Carlos Hurt, Earl Clark, Samardo Samuels, Peyton Silva, Wayne Blackshear and Chane Behanan. I expected more.

The increased interest in UNLV has been discussed and IMO the ranking of players that have committed over the last 4 years to UNLV has help to increase the profile and attractiveness of the program from a coaching perspective.
