Nice…Year 4 of the “slow build” yields a 5th place prediction!? What else does Harper need to see? A huge waste of time the program doesn’t have.
Media was wrong last year. We finished 2nd. Then again, what were we, the only one of the top 6 that didn’t make the tournament and not only that, we were a far cry from making it. A couple miles from the scent of a bubble.
Those early season losses pretty much killed our chances. That home game loss to Southern was embarrassing. Then followed up with back to back losses to Florida State and Richmond, then Loyola Marymount 2 games later. Getting crushed by Air Force 90-58 didn't help our chances either. LOL
It was very hard to make a case when you dig yourself a hole like that so early. The Southern and Air Force games were post season killers.
Before the turn of the year, it was obvious that unless they pretty ran the MWC, which wasn’t happening, we were playing for 3/4 games in March, hoping for a top 5 finish so we wouldn’t have 4. It was very evident. They can’t crap the bed for the first two months this year. That doesn’t mean don’t lose. It means beat who you’re supposed to beat (been a problem), win at home (been a problem) and battle in the rest of the games, even if you lose (has been a problem). Our basketball season was nearly over (effectively) before our football season. Can’t lose to Southern Pawtucket State at home. You just can’t. And no, you can’t candy coat that shiz with “if they finish on top of their conference, it’ll be considered a decent loss”. Just stop it already. And battling back against such a terrible foe isn't a sign of toughness. It means you’re not tough because you weren’t ready.
Just call them what they are. Season killers, interest murderers.
Yeah slow build more like a sloth build. 4th place last year, 5th place this year, then 3rd then 4th...we should win the conference around 2030.
