Who will be our next mbb coach??? Let the games begin.

At least we will have some March excitement for Rebel basketball.

May be true, but what Dickie said before about Pitino rumors proved to be false. I think he just makes huge assumptions.

Dick seems to have a thing for Pitino and Louisville. He immediately shot down the idea of RP being interested in the UNLV job when it first came out. I just don't think his heart could take it if Pitino did land up at UNLV!

I would say this is probably false because Dick doesn't really have a good pulse on the sport when it comes to coaches/players making decisions (Or even tangible basketball analysis :)) but don't get your hopes up for Pitino. Because anyone that is compared to him may seem disappointing when it could very well be a good hire.

Pitino wants to be back at Loserville;
their bible thumping hypocrite boosters want him back;
Kentucky fans want him back.

We'll see how it plays out.

If he took the UNLV job and brought Vegas back to the glory years...........

Pitino would be king in Vegas! He would be living the high life with his buddy Wynn. Turn the UNLV program around and he would be instantly legendary in Vegas. I cannot fathom how, assuming he would be getting similar pay, you would pick a city like Louisville over Vegas.

Considering the now bad blood between RP and the President (and others whom we probably don't even know of), why even put up with that mess? This years Louisville team had the potential for a huge run in the tournament--maybe even national champions. Instead, and behind RP's back no less, the school placed themselves on a self-imposed post season ban, ultimately punishing players who had absolutely NOTHING to do with the scandal.

So, unless the university president gets the boot himself, why return to a program that unfairly punished you (assuming he really didn't have any knowledge of incidents) and your players? Especially when you have a team like UNLV who is welcoming you with open arms with a great opportunity for a fresh start. His resume speaks for itself and he has nothing more to prove to Louisville by returning.

I just don't get it.

There is no question that Pitino will "honor his contract" and expect Louisville to honor it too... that means that he expects a hefty buyout settlement if they try to show him the door.

For him to take a public stance other than that would be surprising. If your boss wanted to fire you but would have to pay you tens of millions if he does fire you.... but if you quit you get nothing.... would you be threatening to quit?
