My choice is redshirting Dedan Thomas in the 1990-1991 season. I read an Ernie Baer post somewhere that Tarkanian later regretted the decision. Could have been useful in the game against Duke.

UNLV's problem wasn't keeping Maxson, it was hiring him in the first place. A lot of people were bitching about how he would come in and destroy athletics as soon as he was hired. At the time I thought it was just a bunch of BS from people that didn't like Maxson, but it only took about 6 months to figure out how fake he is, and how he had his own agenda!

Tark wrote a column a few years ago for one of the papers and he said he was not sure if Thomas as a freshman would have made that much of a difference but felt Matt Othik(sp?) who went to Arizona would have made the backcourt much better.

Give me basketball arenas, not football stadiums. That was gddamn awful. And we couldn’t stop a 4 foot 6 dude with a neoplastic earlobe that weighted more than his entire body.

I was going to vote LJ taking the 3 because that would've given us the win and probably a back-to-back national championship sealing the team and Tark's greatness for all time but if not for Maxson's ego we wouldn't be the mess of a program we are now and have been for close to 30 years. We're improving, slowly, but light years away from what could've been.
