Buyout would be around a $Million. Positives - 1. Record. Has done well at UCSB most of the time he's been there. But has had a couple of bad seasons. 2. Region. Has been coaching in the West for at least a dozen years. 3. Young. 47. Negatives. Record. Did poorly at New Orleans. At UCSB stunk it up 22-23 and is 5th this year. ( In a much lessor conference ) 2. Limited experience. Has Never head coached in an equal or better conference. 3. No name value for all but the most dedicated basketball fans.

If we are very funds limited he would be fine as we could probably get him for a $ Mil year. ( current contract is $ 500K and he's not doing well so he'll be looked over ) If funds are available ,however, I think there will be better alternatives.

Augmon has done nothing to build a resume to show He's the man and yes I realize Neither did Kruger. Augmon had one year of HC experience overseas. I think Harper wants an experienced HC. I could be wrong.

An Augmon hire would definitely signal that all $$ is going towards football. If that’s the case I wouldn't mind giving Augmon a shot. He’d reunite LJ and UNLV and hopefully bring some swag back to the program. Augmon was an intense competitor and I suspect wouldn’t allow the lackluster defense we’ve seen over the years.

Two keys to any coach we hire.

1. experience as a HC
2. Ability to draw in NIL for players.

Next year could be a real boon for the program if they can add on to the players era allocation. Augmon has limited HC experience but can get the community to buy in.

It’s going to be tough to find a coach that can fulfill both criteria in our budget. Probably 1.1 to 1.8 million I’m guessing.
