Parking for football games?

I am a season ticket holder but it seems the only way to be sure of a parking pass for my account for football games is to donate a minimum of 350 bucks to RAF, per the emails from last month.

So what are my options if I don’t wanna spring for another donation? Are there gonna be shuttles from casinos to the stadium on game day?

I'm not sure regarding the shuttle plans or remote parking lots, but the deadline for donations towards eligibility to receive parking passes was 7/1, so it is too late now.

I realize that it’s too late. Just wondering what the plans are for people who don’t wanna tailgate or don’t wanna donate what the tickets cost just for parking passes. They haven’t done a great job of communicating that yet that I’ve seen.

Maybe someone can answer my question. My Mom is ADA and we will probably Uber/Lyft to the games can we be dropped off and picked up at the designated ADA drop-off locations?

You will have the same issues as everyone else waiting in a long line of traff if uber and lyft even go all the way to the stadium. Still waiting to see if UNLV will set up some type of transportation and parking or if they are going to leave those attending the games to get screwed?

I I go to several Auburn University games a year. I'll use them as an example of classy parking. They have approximately 80,000 people at each game. They use 6 on campus lots. In addition to that they have five off-campus lots that are serviced by shuttles. The off-campus lots are free. You go to one of the lots and Park and the shuttle stops several places onthe lot. You get on it takes you to the game and drops you off right at the stadium by a special route. When the game is over there are at least 15 shuttles lined up. People get on and everyone is gone within a half an hour. If they can do it with 80,000 fans certainly we can do it with less than 40 thousand. Anything less is totally unacceptable.

Oregon is the same

Does Allegiant have many lots in the nearby areas? My understanding is that there isn't much other than the very limited Allegiant specific lots.

I know the large College stadiums that I have been to (all have been on campus), they have utilized on campus lots, some remote lots, and whatever empty lots in the area become temporary parking places. Also colleges tend to be surrounded by a somewhat residential area with places to park on the street.

UNLV should fully utilize their lots, especially the ones by the T&M for game day and use shuttles. (if they were smart they would try to offer something similar for the Raiders too)

UNLV is busy worrying about how to make additional money for their athletes through endorsement deals, but they don't appear to be very concerned about the rest of the students or those purchasing tickets when it comes to parking at the stadium.

Correct.

In Michigan people had signs for parking in their front yards for $25 bucks.

Honestly, in my opinion, for what this stadium cost to build, parking and tailgating should not be an issue at all..

People can complain all they want about Sam Boyd, and it did have its warts, but parking wasn't an issue.

Add in Star Nursery field option. $450 bucks for a season you got an assigned tailgate area for the whole year that was easily big enough to park 5-6 cars and still throw up a couple of tents and grills

It was a great set up..

This is 100% on UNLV and nobody else. They have the site parking, and could work out their own deals for parking off site including putting together parking at UNLV for a nominal price that includes transportation to and from the stadium, but instead they are busy tweeting about the new endorsement deals for the athletes (coach Arroyo and UNLV athletics have put out dozens of tweets regards endorsements, but nothing regarding parking)! Shame on them for their continued stupidity and lack of communication with those who pay for the athletic department!

Sure.

But how do you build a 65000 seat stadium with...

1) Such limited on site parking.
2) Minimal tailgating space.

I miss Sam Boyd already.

You miss Sam Boyd along with almost nobody else. They could never get more than about 10-15K locals, including the students, to show up to the games! Based on what I can see now, UNLV is looking at crowds in the 30-40K plus range. It will take time, but enough people in the area will figure out the best price to lease out their parking lots, and can even include transportation to the game while pocketing a nice chunk of change without emptying the ticket holders pockets, or more people will use uber/lyft! But, if UNLV wants to keep people going to the games, they better figure out how to make parking reasonable or watch the attendance boost disappear!

I'm going to ride my bicycle. I got it at Goodwill for $8 so it doesn't make any difference if somebody steals it.

I know plenty of people that actually liked Sam Boyd. Tailgate group of 40+ people.

Friends, family, beers time together make an event, locale had little to do with how much fun I had..

I have 20+ years of great memories tailgating with friends and family.

The biggest complaint about Sam Boyd was location..

It was a 40 minute drive for some folks. The horror..

Take a trip to SJSU or any number of G5 schools and Sam Boyd was on par with most.

Freaking P5 Northwestern had Porta Potties inside the stadium. Been to the Rose Bowl? Its big. Has some history. That's about all I can say for it. The Coliseum? Same thing.

Was Sam Boyd great? Not by any stretch but it wasn't the dumpster fire people make it out to be.

'Oh no I had to park on dirt!'

It was an easy stadium to get in and out of in comparison to a lot I've been to.

Football isn't like baseball, where a lot of ballparks have some soul or feel like an organic part of the city. Outside of the cathedrals like Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and a few others, most aren't much to write home about.

If UNLV was actually winning with an engaged fan base, the stadium itself would have mattered very little.

Did UNLV have any say in the actual design of Allegiant? All blame for parking issues and lack of tailgating falls on whoever drew that thing up.

If UNLV can't figure it out and get results, it won't be anymore fun watching a game at Allegiant than it was at Sam Boyd..

You think watching losing football was bad in a 35k seat stadium with 15k-20k fans? The atmosphere will be even worse when 70-80% of the seats are empty not 50%..

Win, folks will show up. Continue losing and that new car smell will wear off pretty quick.

I understand why UNLV was fighting the stadium on parking for weekday events but on Saturday/Sunday those lots are empty in the Fall. It would be nice if UNLV gave fans a large central tailgate area instead of small parking lots all over with no room for tailgating. The Star Nursery grass tailgate area is the only thing I’ll really miss about Sam Boyd. I hope they at least do something for the students to get that UNLV tailgate experience I loved.

Called today.

4k for an 18×18 spot and you are allowed one car. Other people would have to find parking and walk to spot..

36×36 is 11k...

I can get two season tickets and 41 games for the Golden Knights for that price vs 6 games to set up some grills....

Star Nursery Field was great..

People think 110-115 is hot, wat till you are standing on blacktop in front of a grill.

Welcome15 is a promo code for a few bucks off of parking with Spothero. I used it for the Garth Brooks concert.

How bad is the parking at Allegiant? Do you have to wait long after a game for a cab? It sounds like a lot of work.

The parking at the stadium will be incredibly chaotic and is setting up to be a scandal. If this were perfectly planned it would be tough because it is new and anything new is destined to be chaotic. ( Remember the race track on the first race and how I-15 was closed. That was after some intense planning way beyond anything that's been done for this )

Nobody can know what the cab situation will be like at the game. But you can use the Airport as an example. McCarran has one of the best organized taxi pick-up systems in the U.S. and they are only capable of loading at most 1200 cabs an hour. They have a multi-million dollar staging area to bring hundreds of cabs close in to the loading zone. They also have a loading area that can load dozes of cabs at a time. Allegiant will never be able to move that many cabs without a large cab staging area and an engineered pickup system that loads dozens like this and they don't have it. Look at the map below and find the taxi area. You'll see there is no cab staging area - that means cabs will be on their own trying to wait for stadium rides. A potential nightmare. If Allegiant can move even three hundred cabs an hour they will be doing fantastic and that's still less than 1000 fans an hour. You are making a mistake if you count on either a cab or Uber.

IMO, plan to park somewhere on the strip and walk a couple of miles to and from a game. Or, hopefully, businesses nearer the stadium will open up their lots for a reasonable - $50??? - fee. Or see below for parking at one of four residential hotels nearer the stadium.

Going to the game should be nowhere near the issue that leaving the game will be. Arriving fans will be spread out over several hours. But departing fans will all leave at once. This is guaranteed to be a nightmare.

Taxi and Uber parking/pickup description from Allegiant website. "The designated general and taxi drop-off and pick-up zone is located at the corner of Diablo Dr. and Procyon St.. Traffic will be directed eastbound on Diablo Dr. and northbound on Procyon Ave. There will be a walking path through Diablo Dr. leading towards Allegiant Stadium’s southwest entry. If available, a Taxi pick-up line will also be located in this zone after events. Allegiant Stadium has multiple designated Uber/Rideshare areas, conveniently located within a short walking distance of the Stadium. Guest rideshare drop-off areas will be based on ride start location."

POSSIBLE RESIDENTIAL HOTEL PARKING. Looking at the map, find the South Ride-share area. ( Oquendo and Century Park Drive) There are four hotels with loads of parking. ( Fairfield, Courtyard, Residence and Holiday inn) I would never try this, however, without first calling the hotels and seeing their game day parking policy.

Anticipate this will be a total sh*t show. Plan ahead. Call ahead. Stay calm. Avoid confrontations. (Nobody needs to get hurt over a parking spot)

Down in Tucson, U of A doesn't have any on site parking lots for public use. A lot of people park down on a residential street somewhat near the campus and walk, while a lot of other people use the public transit that is set up for the games. They schedule buses to arrive at shopping centers around town, and the same bus will pick you up and the bring you back after the game. It's not ideal, but it works fairly well. Just have to know where to go and allow for the extra time waiting for your bus to be ready. We really need something like this.

There just seems to be an abdication of responsibility.

Leaving the games sounds like a total pain in the ass. Who wants to be looking around for a way after games get over at near 11 at night? I’ll just watch the games at home in SoCal. It just sounds like to much work to leave a game.

Where exactly did you Park ? What is on site at the Stadium or off site at one of the many lots.
Lot E it is on property. I got to the concert 15 minutes before doors opened. I had no traffic problems before or after the show. Easy in and out.

Guys, it’s UNLV football. We should expect like 10,000 for us on opening day.

Oh the 104 bus is the main bus that stops at Allegiant. It also stops in front of Town Square on the strip. The Two bucks is not good enough for a transfer. Your best bet us buying a 5 dollar all day pass

imagine though after blow outs, that’s a long bus ride home.

It’s UNLV. We been getting screwed for how many years in football?

What were the Allegiant traffic reviews like after the Gold Cup final? That was the stadium's first live, full-capacity test.

The recent parking issues have been based on 65k+ in attendance. I agree UNLV should average about 30k. So I don’t think parking will be as big an issue as we’ve seen in the last couple of events. Should be manageable.

The available parking isn't the issue, the price of the parking is the issue. UNLV has stayed very quite in regards to how that will be handled!
