Pac media deal

Does it really matter... We dont need to worry about what the MWC will do in 5-7 years... We wont be in the MWC when they need to add teams. Right now the MWC doesnt need to add anyone. It only takes away from the media rights deal with more mouths to feed that dilutes the pool. While Im glad we added NIU from a competition standpoint, adding to basketball only programs and NIU diluted the pool that was already going to be small. Adding more programs further dilutes that pool, especially schools that arent currently at the FCS level

No I don't think so. At least not now.

Again a lot speculation. Nothing concrete.

Try to keep this short (Well short as possible) a lot of moving parts to it.

1- Other MWC schools not exactly thrilled about AFA and UNLVs sweetheart deals. More so UNLV. AFA is limited by lack of NIL, usage of the portal and transfers so more money doesn't help them the way it would other schools. But UNLV getting essentially a Boise like deal does potentially create a competitive imbalance in the conference.

2-A lot hinges on mediation and what MWC gets notably UNLV.

In no way saying this is going to happen just a theory. Again sorry this is so long.

Essentially it could be more expensive for Gloria to keep UNLV than what UNLV is worth. By that I mean, say MWC gets 50 mil in total from mediation. UNLV gets a sizeable chunk of that.

It could be in Gloria's best interest to let UNLV walk. It would free up a lot of money to bolster the conference in numbers against further realingment.

Again a theory but she could conceivably take the money earmarked for UNLV and pay FBS entry fees (5 million) for SAC State (big California market) NDSU (Top FBS program) and possibly a Tarleton State or Sam Houston or even NMSU.

And give current schools a little more cheddar...

UNLV goes to the PAC essentially for free.

Again speculative. Extremely speculative. Contingent on PAC even wanting / needing UNLV AND UNLV wanting to actually join.

But I do think something surprising may go down with the PAC and MWC in the next couple weeks.
I’m just not sure I see the reason that UNLV would just walk away from what they’re owed. I mean IF the settlement number was somewhere around $50 mil, roughly $12 mil goes to UNLV…

I mean I suppose I could see it being worth leaving that amount on the table, but…

Supposedly the PAC media deal is done and now UNLV would be cutting into that…?

I mean maybe but I’m not necessarily seeing it.

Like I said only way I could see it happening. UNLV would have to keep P4 out as well.

It really depends on what the payouts is, and why I hate the unknown of percentages vs a hard number.

PAC deal is done (kinda) but its being reported that TX State may not have gotten a full share initially. PAC may have negotiated that in a way that they still have money in reserve to still add without impacting current deal.

CBS was anchor partner but not only partner. They will have others..

No argument.

But 28k? Even our FS1 numbers weren't great.

I'm just saying regardless of network NDSU would likely draw similiar numbers to most in the MWC...They wouldn't tank our media deal.
I agree regarding numbers, but not sure how they would do overall for the MWC, but if I was the MWC and expected UNLV to leave, I probably would be pushing to bring them up.

Numbers are tough to come by..(CBS doesn't release numbers).

I like the idea (as commissioner) of having some inventory to bolster against defection.

I like the UTEP addition. Despite struggles they have upside.

I really would look at Sac State as well. Its kind of an untapped market for college football. And its a large market.

I would have no issue adding the Montana schools if they were interested along with NDSU/SDS. Creates a block of states Wyoming through Montana and the Dakotas that you own. Small markets most definitely, but passionate fan bases that would absolutely tune in for games.
