OT: Ian Hurricane from Sarasota

It was a none event , RWAC. A little breezy and rain. I almost went to work on Thursday..it was so quiet. I did worked on Friday.
What people are doing now are borderline insane with gas gauging. Where are these people storing their gallons and gallons of gas? Dumbasses.
Yes, power was down was minimal in some neighborhood. Two days max.
I went to Home Depot today to get bugs spray for my lawn. Some dumbasses from North are buying generators still…

I did get a generator on Friday’s afternoon/evening but returned it today. The power came back on before I have time to break open the box. Saw where it was made from…not going to keep that crap if I don’t have to.

"NON -EVENT" says the long time Fl resident . F that. I have a friend and fellow ATG coach who Im going to help out in a couple days when he can get to his house, he is down in Port Charlotte, his house still has a foot of water. He knows a couple people that lost their life, and another that is missing. They are still finding bodies. I think its up to nearly 70 deaths. Power still out for a lot of my friends up here in B town. Friends having to shower at other friends houses. My wife's restaurant has been closed for a week. The shelves at Walmart are bare - worse than at any time during covid. NO TP ? WTF do people buy out all the TP when shit goes crazy? it doesn't matter how long I live in Florida, I will never underestimate the wrath of mother nature nor will I ever F with a hurricane. Stevie Wonder can see that shit coming -
my recipe for big one will always be to GTFO- All I know is we are lucky IAN shifted at the last min and turned EAST.. had it hit a little further north like it was projected to the Tampa Area (high pop) the death toll would have been in the 1000s. Im Glad you're good TRip.

Keep on running, RWAC. Maybe the next one you realised that you are living in a flat, water surrounding land also known as Florida. Port Charlotte is only an hour away, so is Tampa. Both of those cities have been hit. Not Sarasota or Bradenton. Ever.

Plus, all the water from Bradenton and Sarasota drain into the Myakka River. The river drains to Port Charlotte into the ocean. That is why a few years ago, you can pick up a house in Port Charlotte for really good price.

The good thing is, those cities dwellers will get a new house every so often. Then they can sell it.
The house I am living in was built in 1967. Concrete and metal frame, low roof with wooden beams in the roof. It is not going anywhere unless the entire state is under water. The front and rear canals drains into Myakka River directly.
