But after 18 years of being on Rebel-Net, I`m taking off from this place.

I was tired of being this person known as Scrub. A guy who insulted players, young kids, fellow posters and just being plain obnoxious.

This has nothing to do with Menzies first year as basketball coach or being sick of how UNLV athletics has gone into the toilet.

But I love the guys, girls and people on this website that I have met over the years. I just really wanted to thank you all who did everything for me whether it was scrounging for and giving me free tix (you know who you are, flying me out to New Mexico using their frequent flyer points (Thank you RebelX or Blayne sp.THAT WAS CRAZY AND PEOPLE STILL DONT BELIEVE ME), free food at tailgates (rebelnet crew, letting me write movie reviews (Florian Trout) and giving me the ultimate rebel net hookup (Mr. Joseph Spilotro)

No, Im not jumping off Hoover dam..lol.

Priorities do change and I needed to grow as a person.

Im not ditching UNLV. Will always love UNLV basketball and football.

So peace out..hopefully I come back and check the site once in awhile.

Been one helluva ride.

Sincerely,
Ted

Dude, if I am here still, you cannot leave. Where are you going, brother?

Here is the truth about this site/UNLV according to me. This is not just a sport site. UNLV basketball is not just a fad. What I have learned over the years from people here helped shaped part of my life. Not necessarily anything serious but very entertaining from this site's member. From Coach Tark, I learned to achieve the impossibilities. It was like watching Superman in person. Coach Tark was a rare person. I dont think even his first born can emulates his achievements. Dont feel bad First Born, I dont think anyone can emulates that either. It took a perfect storm in an absolutely timely manner with a whole lots of luck to achieve what Coach did. I would NEVER, EVER called it luck...I called it Tark with Lucks follows. He worked hard to get LUCK to follow him. His visions are different then anyone's can do at his time. He managed to use UNLV positions to its advantage.
What did guys like Maxson did? To build a vase is much harder then to break it, right? End of discussion. Maxson (rot in hell, asshole) really tried to kills what UNLV and Coach have built. Maxson had helps and remember my analogy, how destruction is much easier to accomplish then construction....to be continue

Nobody likes a quitter
Having this site nearly 20 years and having met a ton of people from the site, lots of great fans have "quit" for one reason or another. The grind of getting very little back.... Priorities shifting over time... Just losing interest in general. It happens. I don't think it takes away from their fandom. I know Scrub was diehard, he showed it in many crazy ways, showed loyalty beyond many and beyond what was probably deserved by the program.

In Ted's case, maybe there's a difference between quitting and just moving on.

Just a joke... Ya know, like when someone tells you they've given up on (drinking, gambling, crack, etc). Then you respond (instead of "OMG, Good for you! That's so amazing"), "Nobody likes a quitter." Then, after a small pause, everyone laughs.

Ted? You look like a Richard to me, NEVER would of guessed Ted! I just canceled my membership ( expires) September. Definitely not a money issue. UNLV is like Stars trek The next generation , you watch and watch and once in a while you get a good episode. Still will watch, but will watch periodically. Hopefully I can get my not second wind , but my 20 wind!

He likes Theodore better.

No I dont. In fact, my birth certificate says Ted.

Hey, if u want i am quitting as a mod. You can give it to 2K3. I think he would make a great moderator.

Just keep checking in from time to time. No one expects you to go on road games to Utah holding up signs disparaging the Mormon religion anymore. That was old Scrub. New Scrub can do that on twitter and facebook.:)

Take care Ted, I'll have to get in game more often and start playing again to chat. Don't be a stranger! Taking time off the Clash is/was similar to a break from here for you.

If you tried to jump off Hoover Dam you'd forget your purpose when you got there and reminisce about how high the water level was back in 1990. Then you'd realize your purpose and try to bring good rock and hip hop music back to the airwaves, do a rain dance to get the Mead water level up, bring alcohol prices at the local watering hole to reasonable prices, cuss at all the road construction but appreciate that civil construction workers are feeding their family, then have a moment of clarity that UNLV basketball is a big beautiful, loyal family... and then, you have another moment of clarity. You can't diss rebel-net, cause you'll make this board a few **** hairs less entertaining and evaporate some of the great character that keeps me coming here.

Ted, welcome back!

Thank you. You know the old saying, “ you are who you are” or “ a leopard doesnt change his spots”

Short story tried changing for this girl. I even got baptized. I really did try but I found out I joined a freakin cult. But it just wasn`t me. My friends hated me. They even had bets on how long this would last. So yeah Im going to hell for that but you know what, i dont care.

I love the rebels and that would mean giving that up and Im no god damn quitter.

I got it all on tape for my reality show.

Been a crazy 6 months.

Not quitting on this team, school and program.

You won't go to hell for attending Rebel games. I think if Jesus was walking around Las Vegas today he might take in a game or two.
