Any thoughts after one game? Mixed bag. On the good side, after playing so badly the first half it was good to see the team didn’t give up and the staff made adjustments and it looked like a completely different game the second half.
On the bad side, when they had a chance to make it a 2 TD game the playing calling on the goal line was trash. Two completely predictable runs up the middle followed by a pass where the receiver has to run five yards just to get back to the line of scrimmage. There was a time we would see those calls in the NFL but not much recently. Especially on 3rd/4th down. Makes no sense to run a play where the WR or RB have to 4-5 yards just to break even. If you run that pass do it like the Pats, line up under center immediately turn and pass and use another WR to block or run one of those fake routes where the WR essentially blocks. Last night they had no blocker.
Only one game, so they have time to clean that up. If the team that played the second half shows up then we can be competitive and win some games.
