OH Great another 1.

I say we pull the trigger now so we can hopefully get who we want. Or maybe give CKK A bonus to resign. I know it would be the 3rd time we have done this in the last 30 years ,but im desperate. With all of these potential job openings. Rosegreen1 might be right there might be as many as 10 plus openings and those are just to BIG programs and we might have only be able to pick from the scraps. Maybe Harper has a masterplan and everything is already in place (best case scenario)! Hopefully with the $ and NIL money all lined up we become a real attractive place and we get someone with some pedigree.

If who we want is actually coaching, what good does that do?

Good point!. But there area always deals in place behind the scenes , I would assume. So u are saying the coach we want is coaching???? So Marshall and Huggins is out?? That leaves..... . IM praying.

Well, other than ethics, there’s nothing stopping UNLV (or a booster/rep) reaching out to a working coach. Does it happen? I’m certain it does. Is it happening? I don’t believe so, but don’t know. I’d expect feelers are put out, without details, just an interest gauge.

I think there’s enough money to get us back on track.

But we do have to ask ourselves - why do we need so much more money than our peers (conference mates) to get back on track? How do they do more with less and we to less with more?

Well it comes to talent evaluation. We have NEVER had PLOY at UNLV in the MWC. Every year SDSU, Utah St, Wyoming , FSU, Reno, Colorado St, New Mexico, AND Boise St all of them at any given year seem to find a diamond or 2 in the ruff . Coaching them up? We have Crappy recruiting?? When was the last time we got a player lightly regarded and blew up? McCaw? Right now Thomas might be the 5th best player in the MWC and he was a 5* recruit.

Nobody in the MWC has a 5* that i know of. Look at NM they lost 3 of their best players and STILL lead the MWC. If we held a lottery i would think after 2 rounds of picking players. UNLV might have 2 players picked. Not much separation after that.

Guess i misunderstood. I was thinking you were posting these of possible schools that would try and take Kevin from us and pay UNLV the buy out for him.

Recruiting the wrong players, wrong culture mindset etc.

It starts with Kruger because he is in charge and sets the tone in the program. I had him pegged in year one, after the away New Mexico game at the cumpizza arena or whatever they called it, and the Rebels were in the NIT picture at the time. The came out flat, they sucked, couldn’t care less on the floor. Postgame presser had CKK not bothered by the pathetic effort and he was not concerned or gave a shit. He was ho hum about the loss, almost like he’s fine with just getting 20 wins.

Get angry, show you give a shit. The fans aren’t showing up because the passion and pride in this program is DEAD. It’s not all on Kruger, but man what a missed opportunity there in year one. I was so mad and knew this coach didn’t have the chops to make it. The coach I saw in the welcome CKK as our HC presser was full of shit. Which leads me to my second point…recruiting.

We are recruiting soft guys, they have no meat on their bones and get moved off the ball easily, get injured etc. Where’s the hunger? The rebel spirit? Where’s the will to win? We need to stop the recruiting of guys that look the part and start recruiting guys that don’t care how they look or act and just want to just want to destroy their opponents for the simple reason that they are just in their way.

Give me 5 guys from Detroit/New York City/Chicago and they will crush a group of guys from Southern California, Utah, Seattle that are highly rated. Whoever the next coach is, whether it’s next month or next year needs to change this pathetic culture and bring back the pride.

I’d like to believe Harper has already been in contact with and has the money in place for our next Men’s Basketball coach.

It's good in theory, but it really depends on what jobs open up. Lets say we were planning to hire Jay Wright (yeah I know, not happening), and pay him 4M a year, but then Alabama's HC spot opens up for some reason and they offer 10M, there's nothing UNLV can do.
