Is it just me or does this years team just feel like an afterthought? No enthusiasm or excitement. The team is vanilla. The coach is a scoop of mayonnaise topped with marshmallows. No buzz or pop. Attendance is embarrassing. It’s like every time they show CKK on the sidelines you can see a black robed figure sitting in the stands behind him holding a scythe waiting for the season to end to show him out the back door. Just me?

The vibes are similar to Rice's last year. Not sure if it will end the same way (probably not) but it's really not a great sign

I don’t know. Things started decently and fell apart in conference. We did beat Indiana and Oregon, teams that advanced to the S16 and E8. I think most were feeling pretty good about the season until that ASU game. But it does feel like last year, the year before, the year before, the year before, the year before.

Yeah Rice’s final season had a lot of hype and things to be excited about… Maui, awesome mid-night madness event downtown, and some solid wins. the ASU meltdown for sure was the start of it, but hell we still were drawing over 10k for games. What we are watching right now is so uninspiring, really starting to feel bad that DJ stuck around. No way he’s here next year

I’m sure he’s questioning it too.

He’s too good of a player to get zero pub.

You mean Rice’s last year when we beat two elite 8 teams and had multiple future NBA players in the lineup? Then he was erroneously fired for losing a couple on the road in conference.

It’s actually night and day different. Kevin is just stealing money at the point. He clearly hasn’t put in the work. Rice cared wholeheartedly.

We have seen what Harper can do with football, I guess we will see if he is capable to make similar impactful hire for basketball in March

His NIL will be much greater elsewhere, imo, regardless of who is here. I’d be surprised if we have him for upperclassman years. Lucky we had him for two years, we’d probably have 30% less wins without him.
Actually, that is bad luck, if they played that bad, Kruger would have already been gone at the end of this last season.

That’s a different way of looking at it.
A new basketball coach COULD have hamstrung us for hiring Mullen. We will know exactly where we are at financially come mid March, so we can devise our plan then.

This season is a waste. Even if we get into the NCAA’s by an Act of God, nobody will know until after the MWC Championship game.

Those of us who post and read on here are the last of the remaining basketball fans. Young and new basketball have no reason to want to follow this season, and I don’t blame them for not following.

Leading into this year, Kruger seemed to have had the urgency of Arroyo during the covid tryout season.
