That's just dumb.
I'm tired of this structure for paying players. I don't watch other schools for this very reason.

The majority of these recruits won't live up to the ridiculous hype surrounding them.
That's a lot of $ throwing away. BYU better be Top 10 for that kind of money
Not as many players in BB to pay but I wonder how long until schools start dropping their FB programs?
This kid is possibly a generational talent. He is insane. Ryan Smith (Jazz, Utah hockey team, RSL owner) is a huge BYU fan and has the cash to make this happen. Mormon church could cut the check too, LOL. Their new coach, Kevin Young, is making quite a splash. Recruits are buying what he is selling. BYU could be scary good next year.
There is more $$$$$$$$$$$ that there are players. It will continue to expand till there is some type of cap and no transfer contract. Just think how insane the NBA/NFL/NHL would be without salary caps. The same goes for college sports.
I believe it will be controlled when the P4 programs split from the NCAA and have their own league. There are 50-60 programs that won't put up with a couple of billionaires buying perpetual final four teams.
